COUNTERING shield grabbing

I have an opponent who just won't attack, and shield grabs all of my attacks. He throws me at least 10 times per stock life. The onyl thing I figured out to do is run and stop short then piston kick to counter his predictable shield grab, but everything else he counters with the shield grab (aerial sparkles, running sparkles, aerial backkick, running throw, air flail, etc.).

WHAT works against this?

P.s. I am a newb, so stuff like L-cancelling is still hard and unrealistic for me at this point.

Jump behind him, and grab him when you're behind him. Don't do an aerial, just an empty jump.

If that fails, learn to l cancel. Or space better.

Well, Emmy stole what I was going to say, durn it all.

I guess jumping through him and doing an aerial, so long as you land behind him to give yourself some time to get away. Or just wait and mock him until he comes at you, then shield grab him.

hit his shield with an attack that exceeds his grab range.....use spacing...chances are your friend isnt playing a character with a larger grab range than your fair attack or your bat....so use one of these attacks to outrange him...if he tries to grab you it will miss and then you can think of soemthing to do to him for it^_^

try some easy mindgames...how is your wavedash? something easy like run up to his face and wavedash backwards and hit him with your bat....pretty basic stuff, but you'll wanna get your lcancelling down...
