Counter pick?

The other day i was playing some random dude on kaillera who after taking some serious BEEF!wnage from me (LOLCOPTER) he said something like i only beat him because i was "counter picking" his characters...

I never cared about this stuff since the Tier List was enough for me to decide that i should pick Samus against a random Pikachu or Kirby but now i would like to know what you guys think about which characters "counter" who or whatever.

I have heard that Kirby > C.Falcon since Kirby can utilt C.Falcon to death fairly easy but i find myself picking C.Falcon to counter Kirby so i don't know xP.

BTW: I already know it's all about how good is the player... I'm looking for the most common thoughts based on which character would you pick against whom, if you want to take into account the characters' metagme that's fine.

That list above is what i have so far from your toughts, if they match with each other's like, let's say for example that more than 3 people said that "Mario > Jigglypuff" i'll be taking that.

On Hyrule I hate having to play Kirbies using Falcon because he has no consistent vertical killer. Fox > Falcon vs. Kirby...in my opinion.

I switch to fox or pika against kirbies

they are mad annoying to play against with falcon



But I can see where you're coming from; Falon's speed would give him an advantage over kirby, but on bigger stages, such as Hyrule, Kirby has plenty of places to camp and wait for utilt opportunities.

On dreamland, I think falcon > most characters

I think Kirby = Falcon

Kirby can pretty get all those uptilts then follow up with Nair or Bair which sends Falcon offstage and we all know Falcon is easy to edgeguard. On the otherhand Falcon can do the same thing but has a tougher time edgeguarding. Its pretty much whoever hits that first combo starter we be at the advantage

Falcon is faster so Upsmashes and Grabs will easily get Kirby , while Kirbys uptilt....well we all know about that

well Fox is good of course. but like almost every character has like a zero to death combo on Fox lol

lol its not him persay, its his weight, him yoshi, CF and Link are heavy Fastfallers, so they are comboed easy by noob kirbys and Pikas

Totally agree. Depends on the players. If you play better than your opponent,you won't have any problems to win the match.

This is true for the most part, but the Weight of heavy chars puts them at a disadvantage


Noob Kirby vs Avg Falcon = 50-60% combos from Utilt

i know this because i spent most of my "avarage player" days gettign pissed at the fact that Kirbys can keep racking up percent so easily :|

Yes projectiles are good, so samus is pretty good. But I counter DK pretty well with Link. The whole, throw a boomerang and hit em while they're stunned works well with pretty much anyone.

Ness can get some pretty easy shield breaks on Jiggly, but Jiggly can get some 0TD combos on Ness...

I would say those two are about equal.

Same with Jiggly and Pikachu. Jiggly has the combos, but Pikachu has some quite easy edgeguarding.

I would be more tempted to put falcon and fox as equal. They can both wreck each other pretty good. In fact at the top level I would say Fox even has an advantage because he has a lot more approaches then falcon, and the lasers.

I swear the hitbox for lasers makes no sense though. I laser my friend and he totally runs straight through them and USmashes me. *Kaillera + hitbox johns*
It got better when I stopped SHDL and just used regular SHL...

All you gotta do is to never shield with jigglypuff against Ness lol.

Most of my choices are due to height, weight, air time, recovery, and the cheapness factor...

really? I find falcon has an easy time getting through those lasers (it's an easy pattern anyways)... and if fox is caught while shooting it in mid air he's in for a combo. That's not really uncommon =/ because he does have the running speed for it...

Oh btw that hitbox thing your talking about is natural for falcon, if you press up or jump and use a move right as the laser is gonna hit its going through falcon.

You should play my Falcon or Fox. I find them doing great against any opponent.
