Could someone with a decent amount of Brawl experience analyze this part of the Direct?

Sure, the game is still in development but I'd still like to get some opinions on a part of the Direct that caught my attention.

- On the Sonic level, Mario fast falls between the two platforms. Is it just me or is the falling speed noticeably faster than in Brawl?

- On the Galaxy level, Mario does what looks like a back air pretty close to the ground, then lands without the usual (?) long landing animation from aerials. Was Brawl also like this?

Cheers.

Point 1: Yes, the fall speed is much faster.

Point 2: No, Brawl had a landing animation for every move possible. It almost looked like a 64 Z-cancel, so basically he landed without an animation hindering his movement.

#1 - Yes, the fallspeeds are much faster than Brawl in general.
#2 - This is called an auto-cancel and yes, you can do that in Brawl. Landing during the earliest or latest frames of an attack will put you into your normal landing animation rather than your aerial attack's special (read: longer) landing animation.

Brawl had more focus on the notion of "auto cancels", they could very well be either very low landing land on his back air, or a more robust auto cancel scenario (most moves auto cancel after the hitbox ends, but this isn't universal).
