Could an old "leak" we long ago dismissed be real?

I saw this picture in another thread that go locked. Normally i'd NEVER start a new topic on a locked thread, but I thought this one was important enough to, because I noticed something that nobody had posted as of yet.

This roster, a roster that you, me, and everybody else dismissed as fake, was posted in August, before we knew ANYTHING about what the layout would look like. And guess what? It has the actual smash layout.

And one more thing: 35 characters.

I agree that things like offlined boxes, Tom Nook, and the names under the pictures make it seem false.

But it seems like every picture (even Jigglypuff, and yes I think Ganondorf looks different too) is one that we havnt seen before.

I am not saying this is real or fake, just trying to throw new hope into a community devestated by Wolf and Rob.

Unless you meant, it's supposed to represent what the characters in the actual roster will be; or I've missed the point completely.. in which case I'm sorry, and forget I mentioned the Luigi/Pikachu thing!

Edit: actually, I think I did miss the point.. even if this isn't the actual roster, we prolli can do without having that other roster shoved down our throats in every single thread good stuff man

Honestly the problem with that roster is that it's too good to be true. I would love that.

guys: the point of this thread was not to get you all to believe that Luigi's name is now Pikachu. The point is that while, yes, the 35 character roster prediction probably is true, it has yet to be officially confirmed. 35 characters could be the final number based ont he screen also, but it doesnt have to the 35 characters that other guy said.

on the other hand, this roster honestly COULD be true. if it is a beta, the Pikachu/Luigi thing could be an error, or even some kind of inside joke the developers have. And yes, as pointed out, the picture of Ness is exactly the same as the new Ness icon we have.

IDK, i think it's worth talking about though. Still gives hope to the Ridley/Krystal/K.Rool faithful.

not really. I never really dismissed this, and with the new art and the Ness head.. I'm hoping this is the real deal. I certainly am not buying into that "ZOMG ROB ROSTER WAS RIGHT" nonsense.

Study the fine nuances a bit more.
Firstly:

The Mother 2 model. This is not it, at all. The skin tone is too light, for one. Then there's the size of the eyes. The lack of the mouth's prominence doesn't help it, either. The hat, also, is too high.
Secondly:

The Earthbound model. I shouldn't even have to list the discrepancies here, but I'm guessing I will have to. The hat is pointing the wrong way, the skin is too dark, the eyes are too small, the eyebrows, the ears are too big.

It's not identical to either, and is rather a change on Ness' design, slenderizing him slightly and brightening the colors a bit. It's, again, identical to the icon that was leaked months after this picture surfaced. Don't use "NESS IS THE CLAY MODEL ZOMG" argument ever again.


Use other arguments, fine.

Anyway. The point of this topic is NOT "zomg this picture is the real deal!11"

It's "Hey, that ROB roster, yeah, that's in no way 100% confirmed, stop super speculating."

I agree, this thread is just to say "If the ROB roster is real, then why can't this one be?" They both have 35 characters and come from a few people saying they know the roster...

I'm not discussing the roster anymore. Too many people are gullible. I'm waiting out for next Thursday, and when the final roster is REALLY revealed... well, we'll see... Personally I don't think it's the ROB one

You can claim all you want that it's an early beta and they messed up the name... but seriously... It's way more likely that the idiot that took this picture of his monitor just made a mistake.

Also, the Ness picture... it could be just taken from a screen cap of melee. The actual face we see of him is so small that there is no way to tell that it wasn't just a screen cap. The ganondorf thing is also true. It's pretty obvious that it's just your standard cut and paste job, full screen it on your computer monitor, turn off the lights, and take a picture. This is incredibly easy to do.

There is alot of evidence pointing both ways.

Fake: Pikachu/Luigi thing, it would be possible to create at home, names under faces
Real: Ness being the EXACT picture he is in the new icon, the layout being like this way before anybody knew it, 35 characters


It could go either way. Again, though, not the main point of this thread.

The man isn't saying the picture is the real roster, he's just pointing out the very conspicuous fact that this was made before we knew the layout, yet it has the correct layout.
