Could a 3rd party controller be best for Smash 4?

3rd party controllers are like disposable razors. You use them a few times then throw them away. You get what you pay for and that's why they are so cheap.

Don't always believe this.
Sometimes its true, but its not always true.
There a few third-party controllers that last, and are very well built.

You can try that one if you want, as the reviews seem good enough.

Got any recommendations? All of the ones I have tried have failed shortly thereafter.

I heavily doubt it. There has pretty much never been any notable cases in the last 2 generations of 3rd party controllers being better then originals.

Arcade sticks. Though those have never been made by a console manufacturer.

The quality CAN be good if they're made with quality parts.

As I've said in other threads, we need wired controller support more than anything else.

Well I did do a bit of research and I've been hearing allot of good things about Nyko's pro controller. So I say it might be pretty good for those who prefer a more 360ish layout.

And I will say that this is much MUCH better than this hunk of 3rd party crap

I think any controller (well, most of them) could be "the best controller for smash4" for atleast one individual. I'ts mostly just personal preference you know. There is no absolute "best option" that applies to everyone.

(Thou I do agree with people in here talking about 3rd party controllers. I myself also have only had bad experiences with 3:rd party controllers. Mostly that they break easily or just simply stop working pretty fast. But as long as they work I'm sure they will be someones favourite.)

This is the controller I use and mine is just fine after several months of use... well, except that I lost a screw to the shell... :)

Use the damn GamePad, or if you're one of those people that screams 'gimmick' at everything, just use the Pro Controller.

I'd be fine with the pro controller. I just need a wired option.

Have no risk in wireless lag and eliminates the issue of wireless interference at tournaments.

Lol, imagine being in some sort of finals of an online tournament... And your controller runs out :(

I have bad experiences with third party controllers... They may be cheap but they break in like 3 days.
Don't buy $5 controllers at some pawn shop then. Shop around, do some research, and find out what's legit and what isn't.

Not true at all. Most Xbox 360 competitive gamers used various more precise controllers.

When you get a good high end Mad Catz controller for instance, you get quality.

Also, almost all arcade/fighting game competitive players use 3rd party made arcade stick controllers, and those work masterfully.

On top of that, even the Wii U Pro Controller isn't that good. It's not really made for a game like Smash. Honestly, if there is no wired controller support (even if there is), I might just use a keyboard to play so I can have added precision, and not worry about desynching (via Nintendo's stupid "no wired controller" policy for the Wii U, which is like a 20 year old concept that needs to be maimed, mauled, and murdered) in tournaments.
As I've said in other threads, we need wired controller support more than anything else.
Exactly. If we get wired controllers, we fix all that. Plus, we don't have to worry about the frequency lag, or batteries dying on us.

But hey, at least Nintendo supports USB ports for keyboards, so that's an option.
3rd party controllers can never be trusted
Oh look, stupid blanket statements that allow for no wiggle room at all and are completely uneducated. How adorable.

I'm not bothering with 3rd party controllers anymore. I've used about 3 different 3rd party controllers and all of them had problems like loose buttons, sticks that suddenly input movement when I'm not touching them, and breaking faster than normal controllers. I think I'll just use a Wii U pro controller or the gamepad for Smash.

What anger? The only thing I see is calling out a blanket statement. Third party controllers like arcade sticks and fightpads are examples of quality third party controllers. You have to look to see which controllers are made of quality parts instead of picking up some cheap off brand controller.
