among the figments of your imagination
There isn't a topic on this, so I figured I'd go for it.

Since we're in the middle of the cold-season, I figured I'd share a recipe for my own personal cold remedy right here:

Sinus-Buster Soup

Ingredients:

Base:
• Free-range Chicken Broth

Herbs, spices and flavorings:
• Whole clove of garlic, crushed and minced.
• Ground Cumin (use generous amount)
• Paprika
• Worcestershire Sauce
• Oregano
• Tarragon
• Basil
• Parsley (Italian style if possible)
• Salt
• Cracked Peppercorns
• Lemon juice

Solid Stuff:
• Italian style turkey meatballs
• A noodle of your choice (recommend elbow macaroni)
• Veggies of your choice (recommend cut green beans)

Cooking it:

1. Bring the broth to a boil. Add everything under “Herbs, spices and flavorings” except the lemon juice. Bring down the heat and let it simmer for a bit.
2. Add the meatballs. If you can, thaw the meatballs beforehand and break into small pieces. If they’re still frozen, let them thaw in the hot broth and carefully break them apart with a spoon. Let the meat cook for a bit, stirring occasionally.
3. Add the noodles and veggies, then bring to a boil. Stir occasionally so the noodles don’t stick to the bottom.
4. When the noodles are finished cooking, squeeze in some lemon juice to brighten the flavor a little, then serve and enjoy.

Notes:
-I left the measurements of ingredients out so you can add each to you own liking.
-If the water in the broth boils off too quickly, add a little water to compensate.

The story behind it:
This isn’t your grandma’s chicken soup, this is powerful stuff made to blow your sinuses wide open and taste great doing it. The key ingredients behind the power are the very generous amounts of garlic, cumin and the cracked peppercorns. Other helping ingredients are Oregano and Italian turkey meatballs. Garlic is already a fairly common household cold remedy used in soups. Cumin is a Mexican spice, and like most Mexican spices, it packs a mighty punch. I used cumin because it brings the power of a Mexican spice without shifting the flavor too far from classic chicken soup. Cumin also doesn’t bring the burning sensation of capsaicin, the spicy chemical found in chili peppers. The peppercorns help to boost the power of the garlic and cumin, and on the occasion you bite into one, you get an extra blast of sinus clearing goodness.

So when you’re feeling a little under the weather, cook up this powerful soup to help you get through the worst of it.

If you have any recipes of your own, you're more than welcome to share them here.
If you're up to it, you can cook up what you see here and post your comments.

If you are like me you have times where you want chocolate cake but you can't wait 30 minutes!
Here at last is the solution;
It is chocolate cake in 5 minutes! It is not the greatest cake ever, and the texture is kind of weird. But it tastes good and that is the point. Click the hyperlink, oh, and I suggest adding some semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Its a simple recipe, but it's something everyone loves when I made it. I named it Apple Chicken.

Ingredients:

Chicken breasts
2 cups Maple Syrup
1 cup Apple Jelly
1 Apple (I used a Red Delicious, but I am sure you can use anything you want)
1 Tbs Cinnamon
2 Tsp Nutmeg
1/4th cup Brown Sugar
Additional Maple Syrup and/or Apple Juice

Directions:
1) Cut Apple into cubes.
2) Mix everything but Chicken into a bowl. Order shouldn't matter, just dump it all in there.
3) At this point add more Syrup or Apple juice to your own taste. I would not advise adding much Apple Juice as it makes the glaze too watery. This step is entirely optional.
4) Once everything is mixed together well, add in the chicken after poking several holes in it. Let the chicken sit here for 30 minutes-1 hour.
5) Cook the chicken. I always BBQ it and pour the extra glaze onto it.

Note: I added guesstimation measurements here. When I make this I pretty much just eyeball the amounts in comparison to how much chicken I will be making. This said feel free to experiment with the amounts for varied results.
