Convert video to clean .gif sig

Does anyone know how to convert a video to a really clean .gif? If so could you tell me how and/or let me know if you could assist? I've tried some sites but they leave artifacts. I didn't know where else to put this so if this is an inappropriate post lock the thread and direct to where this should be posted.

i use atubecatcher's video format converter. better than online converters but it leaves artifacts as you mentioned. im looking for a better [free] tool as well, i hope someone answers

if you take your video and split it into quality frames, and the make your own gif in gimp or something, it might turn out better. but its kinda laborious compared to click click
