Controller holding L and R buttons Down

So i just bought a controller and adapter but when i play melee the L button is being repeatedly pressed down. In the controller configure dropdown menu there are is only 1 option the keyboard layout. I cant seem to find anything else on the boards and i dont know what is causing my problem. I just hold shield and if i try to move i just roll back and forth. Her is a screen shot of what ive currently got going.
