Constructing the Tier List

Honestly, I don't see the point in constructing a tier list when you're allowed to switch characters in a tournament. It's obvious there is no topological ordering of characters; a higher ranking on the tier list does not necessitate that a character has a favorable matchup against all characters in tiers beneath it.

I think that's the biggest reason why constructing a tier list IS important (and more analytically fun due to counterpicks). One of the biggest things that the people who end up making the tier list should emphasize is the counterpicking nature of smash end why that affects tier list placings for some of the characters. That way we don't have people running around saying that Link sucks at everything (Even though he does on dreamland thanks nintendude and m2k)

I'll just mention, I'm totally willing to do another match-up chart thread. I'm much more versed with Smash 64 now, though definitely not a high level player, but I'm usually pretty good at organizing and leading projects like these. We'd need to figure out how to approach it in the first place though, but it's not difficult to be careful about little details like that (ie: numbers vs + and -).
