I'm seriously getting tired of the constant rolling. I mean, i roll too, its apart of the game. But roll for a freakin reason, and not just to roll to the other side of the stage, or to try and confuse me, because i''ll just look at you until you stop. Any useful counters for players that get roll happy?

i know, its hard to punish even if you know where they are going. What i do, if i I take them the first stock out, I literally roll over the entire match to annoy the f.. out of them XD. Show them how annoying is rolling.

Beat me too it. Anyways, there are too many of these threads made, we don't need another.

Quick tip: Rolling behind? Down smash, but if you can't time it well enough, spam jab wherever they will be (if you have a valid jab combo). Rolling away? Use a projectile or dash attack

Most characters' down smash hits in front and behind. That's a good way to hit someone as they roll behind you and their invulnerability peters out.

From experience I can say down smashes and slight delays are great for countering rollers.

This might just be a stupid gimmick that I do but sometimes I run straight through a person just to see how they react. They could be blocking, dodging, or juts standing still, I'll just dash through and note how they react. Sometime's I'll dash attack, sometimes I wont.

It's a shame how dominant rolling is but a big reason this is so is because we're forced to play on FD in For Glory. Matches on Battlefield play very differently and is definitely a much more fun stage. Answering rolling varies from character to character on FD but it usually means needing a hard read. Best bet is to force them to the ledge and down smash to punish rolling past you.

They really made rolls hard to punish this game but try to get the timing or your down smashes down and punish with them

As stated, take out their stock and live out the remaining match annoying them. Down Smash is still a good way to get them if done right.

Don't see how timing out the match after the first stock is a great idea. You go sudden death and risk losing the match due to an unlucky hit and then you overflow with salt for wasting so much time just so you can lose. Rolling might waste their time but you're also wasting your own.

I dunno' if it's just me or if it's from playing as Greninja, but so far I haven't had problems handling roll spammers. I think between an opponent's rolls there's a small moment where they're not invincible right? You just have to attack when it happens. With Greninja usually I can use a dash attack, throw a shuriken, wait and do a jab combo, down smash, or grab them I think if the timing's right.

I like to Utilt whoever rolls behind me if I use a character with one that hits on both sides (Greninja, Lucina, DHD, or Robin) and use Timed Grabs or Ftilts for who rolls in front of me. Down Smashes also work, though I sometimes avoid that because most of them are punishable.

ive noticed some characters can roll easier than others. Ive had Lucina's roll right through my DK's UpB, even if she stopped RIGHT in it she managed to roll again before getting hit. Considering thats about as close to a constant hitbox you can get without a projectile around, thats pretty freakin fast.

Samus's roll is just obnoxious too. She rolls across the stage faster than any of my characters can run (dk, wario, lucario, dedede, yoshi) and thats one hell of a feat since yoshi is actually pretty quick.

Ive gotten to the point where i believe nintendo pits lv9 computers against you sometimes. Why do i think this?
1) Predictability is off the charts. CPUs tend to be very predictable, thats how i was able to beat 1v3 lv9 computers in brawl. I just knew how to dupe the AI. When they do the same exact approach/counter 10 times in a row, you tend to wonder if its really a player (regardless of the situation)
2) Insane timing, but not insane "knowledge" - what i mean here is they consistantly pull of some insane 1-3frame timing attacks, dodges, etc yet they cant combo or predict to save their life. I'll have one guy go from dodging everything so close i swear i hit him, to completely misguessing what im doing (upsmash when im not even in the air with a character that doesnt have a sweeping upsmash)
3) The rolls, which is why i mention this here. I could believe someone getting a couple of lucky rolls like i mentioned that Lucina did, but literally every single time? theres no way a player can be that perfect that many times.

I feel like Mario has a quick roll as well. I was playing one last night who timed out my Duck Hunt by rolling around the stage just to lose in sudden death. I had a hard time checking his rolls just because of how quick they were, even with all of DH's tools. I'm sure there's a way to get around it, but it got the better of me that time.

Maybe toss a can out and some gunmen to make him regret rolling? If you don't use a can opponents will be all over the place, I lost a match once against a Diddy Kong since I didn't use it much and he could roll and jump all over me all he wanted. A timed grab, Utilt, or Dsmash, should also take care of Mario's rolling, especially when the range on his moves are so damn short.

And if you get Mario offstage, prepare to gimp him with Fair or Bair since his recovery is trash.

Wild Gunman was my initial thought when I was playing him, but the fashion in which he was rolling either allowed to to get out of range or behind him while he was firing. What I think I was lacking was my can usage, though. I feel like it would have been rather easy to shutdown his rolls with some tricky can placement, but it can be hard to think during those last few moments of a match.

All you really got to do is watch where they are rolling. Then you learn where they are going next and then you go for a punish (Preferably D-Smash but whatever floats your boat)

I just played a Sheik who just rolled away and threw needles the whole match. I won the match but it was super annoying to fight.
