Consensus on Dedede items?

Hey guys,

I was wondering what the conensus was on the Dedede item deal. Obviously, DDD can pull out items occasionally that are from the item list. As I understand it, if all items are set to none and each one is off then this option is taken away from him. On the other hand, is there some other rule possible in light of what peach is able to take out (i.e. make an approved "on items" while item frequency is none that includes bobombs, saturns, maybe beam swords or others?)

Maybe this conversation already happened during brawl, and I would be interested to read about it.

As far as I know, the above is true but the capsules still have a chance to be explosive. This is the problem, with Peach its easy to see the bombomb in her hand when she pulls. with DDD its already flying towards you and you can't know if you are going to be hit lightly or die at 50.

Too random imo

Shouldn't an opponent just dodge every capsule as if it were explosive?

Also, if probability dictates everytime he throws he has 1/x chance of drawing an item, if we increase the items available (bobomb, mr. saturn, capsule, beamsword) the percentage of a "random pill) drops (the probability becomes 1/x * 1/4 of throwing a pill.)

peach, because you can't turn it off, anyway.

if you're speaking of why it's still in pm: because melee.

ddd can be made to not pull items by turning frequency to none and all items off, so his problem is solved, afaik.

because Melee is a poisonous argument, if that's the only reason then why change characters -at all-?

I like the turnip bobomb aspect. It is hype. I sort of think DDD should have it too.

I guess it brings into question: if you could turn off peach bobombs, would you?

Why does everyone go ape **** when there is a random element in pm. Like wtf it's just a projectile with a slim chance of ever happening. Plus you should dodge every projectile that comes at you anyway.

And quit saying that "because melee" **** because the only reason Project M is here is BECAUSE MELEE. I mean, not everything from melee sucks.

Random elements can be destructive to a skill based match at times, but yeah, for the most part these projectiles aren't exactly difficult to avoid. It would be another thing altogether if something like Falco or Fox's laser occasionally had a knockback attached to it with the force of Bowser's f-smash. (Though that would be hilarious in it's own way)

Yeah, "because Melee" is why the game exists, but the game isn't Melee and they shouldn't be afraid to alter things for balance, like they did when they removed the space animal's 1 frame invincibility on shine.

I sorta wish DDD could pull Bobombs sometimes. But to me that's entertaining (and still very avoidable).

The only reason why I feel DDD's waddles don't need a random element is that it probably wouldn't help the DDD player very much. Waddles are normally thrown down or up so they can be used to waddle dash and are only occasionally thrown at the opponent. If a DDD player throws a random bomb, more likely than not it will just hit the ground or fly upward and leave the DDD player with no Waddle dash option.
