Confusion of the Techniques for Falco.

Sorry if these are repeated threads, but I can't seem to find the ones I am looking for. There are certain techniques that confuse me a bit.

First, I noticed that when most of the pro Falco users do the Edgehop Double Laser, they get Falco to fire two shots at the same elevation. Whenever I try it, one would always go at head level and then shin level (CF). I thought I was jumping too high, so I tried to jump less like how the other Falco's do it, but I cant even get the second laser out.

Second, I can't seem to do the Phantasm that covers short distances. I was told that I was to just mash the buttons really fast and hold B to do it, but it was wrong. Can someone teach me to do the Short Phantasm?

Thanks again for taking your time to look through this and help ^_^.

you don't need to tap it rapidly, you just need to press it as he makes "whoosh" sound. as for the laser, there is all ready a thread up for it.

You could just use the search function, and they cover it pretty well in the tutorials as well at the top in the sticky topics.

Is this Kaze no Kizzu? ^_~ If so, when did you start playing Falco? Your marth is too ridiculous =P

Anywho-
Like it has been said, when you hear the "whoosh" sound of the phantasm is when you press B to shorten it. It's a weird timing at first, but listen and keep working at it, and you'll pick it up pretty easily.

As for the Edgehop Lasers, I honestly don't know what to tell you. I either use a single laser or just use a high one and a normal one to cover more space. I tried working on it real fast to see if I could give a better answer, but it's weird, and I see the problem you're most likely having. Hopefully someone can come in and school both of us =P

pressing b will stop his phantasm. since hes so fast, its hard to get it precise. if you somehow press it halfway into the phantasm, he will stop halfway.

for double lasers, just practice...

for ledge double lasers:
tilt away on the control stick or the stick, immediately press y while DIing towards the stage and press b twice. you have a very small frame window in which to drop from the ledge and jump towards the stage. if you wait too long you will only get one laser off and even if you get two off, one may be too high to hit anyone. just fool around w/it.

the simplest/easiest way to do an edgehop double laser is to use the control stick, drop with it then press up to jump while simultaneously mashing b, doing it this way with proper timing assures that you can always get 2 low lasers to hit or if you do it faster and don't drop as far you can control and shoot above etc etc.... its simpler than using Y or X. For controlling the forward b its actually based on timing practice pressing b at different times during the animation and you'll find that falco can go different distances... the reason I suggest really mastering control of the forward b is that you can mess it up and do it too soon and not move at all thusly plummeting to your death, you should be able to control it well enough to sweet spot it. Just practice but don't get used to mashing or you won't have any control which can lead to accidental death.

It is convenient to have two lasers at the same elevation, but as long as both of your lasers are able to hit your opponent, it really doesn't make much of a difference.

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to

Wrong. If your first laser comes out at head level, it is too late. If the 2nd laser doesn't come out, they have time after the first one's stun wears off with which to attack you. you will get killed 100% of the time vs. a competent opponent who is within striking distance. The power of the EHDL is in the limited vulnerability, which allows you to use it on opponents who are fairly close, but not close enough for EH dair. You need to get your lasers low and get both of them so that they don't have a large enough frame of time to just flat out kill you. If your opponent is far away, I suppose height doesn't really matter, but it's still just good form to fire them both and low.

Yup. Basically, just don't shoot 'em when they're near. And whe you do, shoot 'em low.

@Kaze: lol. Doesn't your name just mean wind of the wind? ^_^

I just press down then up on the control stick and press B 2x fast. I don't know why, but it gets the job done.

Actually there's multiple spots where Falco can shorten the phastasm to. But really, just keep pressing the B button.

Yea I do it the same way, when your on the ledge press down then press up and spam B
it does take practice and proper timing like Xelad said, its harder to do it if you use X or Y for this technique. as for shortenin the phantom I just spam B, I havent messed up so far but Ive seen vids of PC chris and Bombsolder messed up from this by spamming it.

thanks everyone...i was doing this wrong and not hitting at the same height...didn't realize it mattered except on short people where i would just fire one..now i can get it right..it's easier if you don't di until after having pressed the first B..don't know why i wasn't doing that before:\
