I'm sure many of you have noticed a lack of decent updates recently. We haven't had a single character update throughout November and we've been giving such shocking revelations as "Widescreen Support" and "Handicap".

On the 10th of October, it was revealed that the release date had changed, and on the 12th, we learned the US release date had been pushed back to the 10th of February.

On the week beginning October 15th, there should have been another 35 days of updates remaining until the previous release date of December 3rd. Since the release date changed, however, there were 73 days of updates until the Japanese release and 80 until the US release.

My point is as follows:
The updates Sakurai planned to give us between October 10th and December 3rd now have to appear less often. We only get them 50% of the time, in fact. Many of these boring updates we've been getting were possibly never supposed to have been. They're basically just filler.

We've had an entire month since the last character update, which is double the length of time the characters were appearing before, so I think we're probably due for our next one on, say, December 3rd?

these updates all appeal to the crowd who has never played Brawl before, so I think that might be why they suck.

Why can't we have our hardcore games, and they have their casual games, and Nintendo stop bridging the gap? It's reasons like this that Mario Galaxy is one of the easiest Nintendo games I've ever had the opportunity to play. They're dumbing down games for the newbies to play...sorry for ranting lol

yeah....

I dont get why people are so surprised at updates like "handicap" and "widescreen." A huuuuuuge portion of Brawl sales are not going to be coming from competitive smash world forums hardcore smashers, its going to come from everyone else.....

He has to appeal to everyone with the mindset that there will be people who are checking the website who have never played smash before.

Marketing ROCKS! <3

As poor as the community judges the updates, and no matter how much Sukurai must love to watch us squirm, these smaller updates are all, well, frankly a pretty good marketing scheme.

A vast majority of people (newbies and veterans alike) are clambering for all the info they can get, in turn getting us hooked. He wants our money, and i know he sure is getting mine.

there is no pattern people. He just updates however he feels like. right now hes just kinda being douchy
Nah, there was definitely some kind of pattern, though it might have been very basic. He obviously moderates how many characters he reveals. At one point we were getting a character almost every week. You mean to tell me he didn't make this drought purposely? This drought was for a reason, probably because of the delay like the TC said.

We've had an entire month since the last character update, which is double the length of time the characters were appearing before, so I think we're probably due for our next one on, say, December 3rd
Double? You mean almost quadruple. On the 25 week since the dojo aired, we had 23 characters. That means we almost had a character for every week since it started.

Nov's almost over...the drought will be finished soon, I hope.

Dec. 3rd is not only the start of a new month but also the day Brawl was supposed to be released...newcomer update? Aug. 1st and Oct. 1st were both newcomers.

Hyrule...OF COURSE!
Yeah, we better get a character update. And it better not be something stupid that we alreaddy know lke Luigi or C. Falcon. Better be a new character in my oppinion, not from the kirby series though....

(ridley im hoping)*wink wink*

but there deffinnetly is a connection to all of this. TC is right, there is a reason for this drought, and btw im glad there are ppl like you guys who actually go out and find out how many/days/weeks/characters there has been up to a certain date. Im too lazy to do that, XD.

oh on another note, this drougfht sucks. I was away on vacation and I expected a whole load of good things for thanksgiving. I come back to find more useless updates. It's pissing me off. A whole week im gone, and still nothing. If they dont have something good on december 3rd, im not gonna buy the game!

nah im just kidding, im alreaddy hooked 0_0
well, ill be seeing ya

"Oh, today would have been the original day you guys would have been playing before the delay, so I figured I'd give you a treat today and ____________"

Can't expect the updates that you want you know. Patience is needed if you want to survive the next set of updates.

I think if we Sacrifice someone, the drought will end, and Sakurai will rain down character updates daily.

People, if your going to complain about the updates, then stop visiting the dojo... and be like those other games that get updates every other month.

40 Characters, special moves and a final smash for each each. Say, 30 stages as well.

Right there you have yourself 30 weeks worth of updates. That's more than enough to get us through January with decent updates...

It's quite possible that Sakurai is putting out these "boring" updates to fill in the time he has left.
And perhaps from time to time he sprinkles us with actual "not boring" stuff, so it is keept interesting throughout the whole period he has left.
Who knows...he might have revealed the starting roster already and only showed the characters everybody wanted to know about, like Snake and Sonic.
Perhaps they won't reveal any more characters. until it's released , ever thought about that?
20 characters as a starting roster is more than enough.
He now keeps the rest of the 'cast' a secret to be revealed by people in Japan when it comes out. After a few weeks, time more than enough to unlock the easiest secret character, a new unlockable character is put on the Dojo.

That's what I figured for the most part because really if it had been released on the original date it would be out next week... that's kind of alot of space to fill.

I have been very harsh on Sakurai latley, a trait that I did not carry as a member of the NSider forums. I have now decided to make an effort to revert to my old ways. I am going to appreciate the fact that we have any updates at all, even if they are things we already knew or rarely characters.

I have been saying that over the last 4 weeks there have been a grand total of 5 good updates. Well, thinking about it, some of these updates have been really cool. They have been unapreciated and underapreciated because of the lack of characters. Think about it, more people would like the Piplups and Handicaps of the world if they were sprinkled around Captain Olimar and Luigi.

I am now going to try to like every update like I used to. Thank you, Masahiro Sakurai! You are giving us updates! And it seems that most people have forgoten that Sakurai and his team are putting their entire hearts and souls into this game. This game means something to them, and the sincerly hope we like it, and would probably be a tad hurt or offended if it wasn't recieved well.

Masahiro Sakurai is doing a great job, and I wish I could personally appologize to him for losing faith/being a **** pile. I am glad we get updates at all. And if there really is another delay like most people think there will be? Then at least we still get more updates. I can't wait for this game, and I appreciate what Sakurai is doing. Thank you, Sakurai!

I personally think these bad updates are just building up until the bombshell update on December 3rd.

Hopefully these are just filler and not a common trend. The begining of the new month is a good time for big updates, but we'll see.

The way I see it, we wouldn't have received a "Widescreen Support" update if there had been no delay.

I do welcome these updates, somewhat, though, as to me, it is important evidence to support the idea that we have not yet seen any unlockable characters (except maybe the 3rd party characters). I mean, if Sakurai was going to show us the unlockable characters before the release, we'd be getting character updates as often as ever!

Thankyou, Sakurai, for sticking to your guns, as it were.
