I know AI is difficult to make good. But **** it, can they at least make the characters recovery properly? Please?!?!?!?

Seriously, Luigi WTF? Ness doesn't even PK Thunder, I mean come on, at least he could air dodge. They could make everyone air dodge. Samus could use her bombs, Link could hook shot, Popo can solo squall, Gannon should Gannon Kick recover. And Marth! Seriously, that's just embarrassing. Can't they make Fox and Falco illusion?! It's annoying to not have ANY CPU to practice edge guarding against. It really pisses me off, how hard can it be to make them recover?

Nintendo knows about how these characters can recover, so why don't they incorporate it in the game (Melee)? Do you guys think they will in Brawl?

I know it's just a demo, but come of the computers didn't even attempt to recover, maybe they were just at low levels.

What do you guys think?

P.S. Rocking the new sig that I hope will pay off.

They were on lvl. 3. But I know what you mean. I want some CPU that would think you're fighting online. But I know it's not possible. At least have CPU that would recover properly...

But it looks like lvl. 3's run a bit more... so I guess that's a plus.

umm, yeah, AI is VERY difficult to make. Do you know how many X and Y variable are incorporated, how many arrays and algorithms and if/then/else's? I bet well over 1/4 of the development process went directly towards AI.

good AI is hard to program. the holes are there because of the AI's branching system is too simple, but its requires alot more memeory etc. for good ai. so brawl AI will be better. (or better programed at least)

either the computer is perfect, or its horrible. thats usually how AI's go.

Pretty much yeh, you can't get in between the two extremes.

Also, the computers were Level 3's. I don't remember playing 3's in Melee, so I don't know what their recovery was like.

Yeah, seriously, look at sonic, he waits a long *** time and then Up-B's the wrong way. I don't really care about the AI that much because it's online, but ****, they should at least make them able to recover properly.

In Melee, the AI was able to be abused in some stages. Such as, Fox on HT, if you're on the top and he's on the bottom he'll keep trying to get up into the cavern that leads up to the top but miss and walk off the edge and then firefox back up and walk back to the cavern and etc. He keeps doing it, I know there's some other abusable AIs in the game too.

And, if you face Fox on FD (if he's Lv. 9) he's annoying to kill and will almost always Firefox back to the edge and make it. I've had him live up to 150% before actually killing him...

As for Brawl AI, I hope it's better. At least the Single Player AI should be, in Melee, the AI just spammed moves or ganged up on you with basic A moves. It was more of an annoyance than hard, IMO. Hopefully, this new difficulty in 1P mode (Intense) is a hint towards better AI.

I don't think single player AI will be a huge leap, it'll be different since they're subspace enemies with different abilities but I don't think they'll do anything smart.

The AI of lvl 9 CPUs in Brinstar from Melee made that stage unplayable with anyone other than humans. Seriously, the stupidity was insulting. If they can at least improve on that a little, I'll be content.

People of course the AI have bad recovery, it's a DEMO!

Remember that they delayed it to February 10th? Not because they wanted to agonise us, but because they wanted to make things better.

e.g. The Computer AI.

I saw a lvl3 Sonic throw a beam sword in one of the videos. Do computers do that in Melee?

EDIT: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xevted1Xu-4 He also air-grabs a paper fan. If this is indeed level 3, I think it's safe to say the AI has been improved.
Agreed. Thats like a lvl 6 in melee. I think he improved. Lvl 3 sonic with smash ball will own you!!!

_____I agree, and they seem to recover correctly when you are in training mode, at least with a little more consistancy. But the thing that really bothers me is the fact it is hard to practiceanything on them. I swear, you try to practice shdl and he powershields it into your face every time, I know it doesn't stop me, but you really don't get to see your hard earned tech skills in effect. I hate that all the ATs aren't as good as sitting there charging a smash into their faces. I understand how hard AI is to make though, lets hope the AI this time around can at least be practiced on.
