Hello all, Rick here wondering if you all would share a few minutes of your time with me, as myself and some others have been pondering ways to create a new and unique way as the ways go for smash competition. We are not pro material, but are very enthusiastic about the possibilities for competition in this game. We have been testing our prototype for about a year now, and with the release of brawl, feel its time to move to a beta testing level. As it stands our project is called the Smash Showdown Series, and we created an initial survey for the brawl community to hopefully partake in to help us create an enviroment that will breed healthy competition.

With WiFi and message boards like this one, gamefaqs, and gamebattles.com We understand that there are more then enough competitions being organized by pretty much anyone and everyone, with different variations of rules, bans, stages, ect. We wanted to get a voice of everyone(if possible)

Smash Showdown Series Beta Survey
Name or Nickname:
Age:
- Not required, all opinions are valuable.
Experience:
- Both casual and/or competitive ; If considered a ‘PRO’ give proof of achievements, opinion could hold more relevance in our research since we feel that ‘PRO’ population would be a small denomination.
Your best 3 characters (order not necessary):
The following topics we at the showdown would love for the smash community to share their opinion on, whether you have been top of the game since SSB64 or just started playing it with SSBB, we would like to use your opinion in this survey to help us cultivate a potential new competitive series in the Smash world.
1. If you were presented with a tournament in which you knew the stage you were going to play on well in advance for each round (more then a day) However, said stage was selected by random, which stages would you consider acceptable for this random choice (1vs1)?
2. If in a 1v1 match, the two things that mattered in advancement were both winner and loser, as well as number of K.O.’s (points) what do you feel would be the appropriate setting? (Stock, time, Stock-time, please include quantities).
3. If separated into divisions (large pools) in which each member faces each other member once(or twice) would you rather the divisions be ranked(elite division, average division, rookie division) or selected randomly?
4. Plain and simple Items on or off?
5. IF you had to, or want to be in a competitive league in which Items are on, which ones would you find acceptable, and on which frequency would you have them set on (high, med, low ect.)? Keep in mind that even set on low if only one item selected (smash ball) it will appear app. every 30-45 seconds.
6. Are there any other facets of the game that you feel should be banned or restricted for competitive play?
7. As of now the Series we are designing will have a unique feel to it, use the wifi connection with friend codes for the matches, have its own website(that will improve over time), and communicate with email and instant messengers. For each of the competitors, we hope to offer 12-25 matches in each series with a time constraint of 2- 3 a week, extensive statistic tracking, and many different ways to earn at least a small piece of glory, as well as an overall individual championship to culminate everything. Would you be interested in participating in the initial (beta) run of this series at no cost to you when all the pieces come together?

Feel free to reply in the board, or Email rickmahan@yahoo.com with your results. We cannot thank you enough for your time.
