Yes I said it!

Well because there is no voice-chat in-game do you feel with doubles you'll be using ventrilo if your partner you usally play with is at his house or maybe in another state. Or it will it be completely worthless because it would not be reallistically used in a LAN tournament.

Or do you think that there is no need for it and if you've played with a person for so long you should know what to do.

I'll just...play.

I personally have no need for voice chat. I've never really liked it: it feels sorta weird to me somehow.

I could definitely see myself using Vent for playing Brawl. It is pathetic that we should have to resort to such measures, but if I have a group of people that I play with regularly I think it would be nice to set up a Vent server for playing Brawl.

I wouldn't see anything wrong with I wonder how common it would be.

I'm not sure. I also wonder what people's opinions on it would be in more competitive matches. Before voice communication was common in FPS games it was just assumed that all competitive teams used some form of it. However, for something like Brawl it might be frowned upon by the Smash community, who knows?

I do think it would be rather hard to tell if someone was using voice comm. There wouldn't be any tell tail signs like in a lot of other game types. Plus, I don't think it would really give that much of an advantage. The main reason I would use it is I like to feel like I am playing a game with real people rather than just smarter versions of the AI controlled characters.

Ventrilo would probably be more effective than built-in voice chat anyway, because I found it much easier to hear peoples' voices on that and PC FPS games than on Halo 3 or Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. Even if you do not have your Wii next to your computer, you can talk in-between matches, saying "good game" and all of that jazz.

Everything else depends on who you actually talk to. Say, in Team Fortress 2 there are people that use the mic to tell about spies or what's going on, and there are the occasional folk that like to play songs through the mic, entertaining some and annoying many.

EDIT: Oh, and to end all Halo 3 vs. Smash Bros arguments, TF2 (PC version at least) > Halo 3 by several miles.

I don't really get the fuss about voice chat for Brawl. I mean, you don't actually have an advantage with saying something to the others in Super Smash Bros. It's just the occasional "ARGH!", "Nice shot.", "Good game." - that sort of thing. If you'd want to actually chat you'd grab a PC.

A game like brawl doesn't need voice chat. I play smash64 on kaillera all the time and the lack of voice is fine with me. Well I guess that has a chat window, but I never find myself using it that much.

Again, it depends on who you're talking to. You may find someone that's more sociable, or you may be part of a clan or crew that you are closer to as friends.

I agree that it isn't necessary, but I still think it's better to try and promote alternatives to pacify those that complain that Brawl doesn't have Voice Chat.

I say: just use Ventrilo if you want to attempt voice chatting, because it's more likely to work than wishing Nintendo to suddenly put it in Brawl.
