Comcast Cable Box Question

Usually I'm pretty technologically adept, but I'm running into a problem with splitting the signal from my Comcast cable box. I have two flat panels in my basement, and I want to be able to be able to watch cable on both TV's simultaneously. I'm aware that it's not easy to split the signal to watch different channels on both sets from the same box, but I'm not looking to do that. Both feeds work individually, but whenever I try to get both working, everything screws up and doesn't work and I have to re-set my box to get everything working again. I'm feeding one directly with an HDMI cord while the other TV's hookup is run through components into my 7.1 Onkyo receiver. Thanks for any help.
