I'm currently working on pressing down-b not all the way on the platform so I can still double jump. If I want to combo to the top platform, what should I do? SH shine doublejump d-air? U-throw? Shine jump waveland? SH shine doublejump waveland?

If you don't want to drop through platforms, you're best bet is to hold down before you land (assuming you are landing with an attack). Otherwise you can waveland down into it and just keep holding down.

I don't understand the rest of your questions... Why would you want to combo onto the top platform specifically? How you would get your opponent up there would depend on their character and the stage anyway. You can combo on and off of YS's top platform much easier than BF's because it is lower and you can double jump up there more quickly.

It all varies. Generally, good things to look for around the top platform are dair onto any of the platforms to techchase with utilt/dair/fsmash/dsmash/etc, or utilt/shine to some kind of kill off the top (uair/doubleshine/shine to firebird).

know what set up to use just comes with experience. they are all useful. although I find shine dair to be the least useful of those. also, how do you use an f-throw to get someone to the top platform? lol

lolol I meant U-throw

I think against FF'ers SH shine d-air works well the same way as shine OoS... I saw PP just run off second plat, double jump and then waveland onto the top one, which makes a lot of sense. I don't use that nearly enough.

All in all, it just seems that comboing on platforms is hard for me (even against computers).

Just start out with simple platform stuff and then branch out for different scenarios. The default platform combo is shine -> waveland onto plat -> SH dair and just chase them. From there you can just work on comboing from one platform to another by tech chasing (just using utilt/shine to cover options and being able to fsmash/dsmash different tech rolls or missed techs).
