Is that the parallax from MC? I saw a parallax on the server this week and he said he was the real one, is he back playing again?

Also, are there vids?

lol Sensei should have gone and collected that paycheck. If it's the same Parallax from emularena way back in the day though, he's pretty legit. I haven't seen a trace of him in years though.

Smelly Cat is also pretty legit based on my brief playing with him, so I guess it's him. DAT'S OLD SKOOL.

32 entrants? Not bad for a random regional (AFAIK)

It's the same Parallax. No videos, sorry but it was mad hype. Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be that big, especially for 64.

And Sensei you tight!

btw Chain-Ace good **** to you rebuilding the NJ scene with all these tourneys. I'm amazed at the influx of new players and it makes me wish I was still in Tristate. I hope that all these new people in both 64 and Melee stick around and improve.

Eh, I agree that it's bad but honestly, who would have showed up with a lower fee? MAYBE Clubba and...?

They didn't lose entrants with that fee, at least for 64. Everyone real was willing to pay the $60.

Still, it is a terrible way of doing things and I don't approve of the way the tourney's been run at all.

I might come to one of these if I have time(and notice). I'll let you know how I feel about it after my Massachusettes trip.

Clubba is the only one you know of, there can be a lot more. Keep in mind that clubba is maybe more willing than the average person to pay plenty for Smash, so there can be a lot of randoms that were dissuaded. I'm not necessarily talking just about 64, btw, but the event in general.

That is IMO why the turnout is way worse than Apex's, even when FC is in the summer - and especially if you look at out-of-region attendance. Of course, I have nothing to back this up, and thus it's not worth talking about much, but still.

yeah we both agree that it's an overpriced and poorly set-up event and obv. that has an effect on melee attendance (who the **** cares about melee attendance?). But as far as good 64 players go, no one was going to come to this regardless. that's my only point.

my main deterrent was location, because south bend is tougher (aka more expensive) to get to than say... new york. In fact, cost more to get to South Bend than LA from DC lol (based on quick priceline search for next weekend). I would've swallowed the tourney fee if I didn't have to spend 500+ to get there. My fault for not getting early tickets though.

Oh damn, I wish I had known about this, I definitely would have gone. Damn, as Nintendude said, nicely done, Chain-Ace, reviving/expanding the NJ tournament scene. If there's a next time, I'll definitely be there.
