Here's one mode that we haven't had confirmation on?

Will the "Classic" mode return in Brawl, complete with the classic fight with Master Hand at the end?

Just some thoughts. Sorry if this has been posted before.

On the blue planet next to the sun, can't miss it!
See, here is what I think.
I really do not think there is a need for Classic Mode except for those who enjoy it (me not being one of them:chuckle:)

So, as long as they did what they did in Melee Adventure Mode and have something to the tune of a Classic Mode match at the end of each level, then I would be happy. However, an ENTIRE mode dedicated to it....no!

I wouldn't personally be all that bothered if they took out the Classic stage based mode, but I don't see why they wouldn't include it.
I think that either way you look at it, Master Hand is going to be the final battle of the Subspace Emmisary, and I think that they will most likely have a mode where you can replay SSE levels that you've already beaten, so you can go back and fight any boss you want in a Classic mode fashion.

Just a thought.

I'm pretty sure we're gonna get classic mode back, complete with those 'step on the platforms' thing that was in 64.

I fully expect Classic mode to be back, and I hope they give you the option to un-randomize the opponents (i.e., make it so you fight a Giant DK, Metal Mario, etc, instead of random enemies)

Classic Mode was excellent. The only mode they should take out is Adventure Mode from Melee, because frankly, it sucked hard. Well actually, they shouldn't take it out, they should just heavily work on it; hence The Subspace Emissary.

But yeah, I don't see why Classic Mode should go.

Of course Classic Mode will return. Its classic. It was the original 1-player mode in the original SSB, its as much a part of SSB as the unique combat system or the characters themselves. It just wouldn't be the same without it.

Personally though, I'm hoping for a few improvements, such as perhaps giving it different sub-modes. For instance, in SSB it had pre-set battles: the same characters fought you at each stage no matter how many times you played it. This had the advantage of being thematic - displaying each of the main characters of the game in their full glory and in an appropriate manner and order - but the disadvantage of growing stale over time. In Melee, the battles were pre-set in terms of the type of match (1-on-1, 2-on-2, etc), but random in stage and characters. This had the advantage of being new each time you played it, but the disadvantage of some really weird matches (so I'm playing as Marth, and I get teamed with the shrimpy Pokèmon Pichu, against "Team Mario", which consists of Mario and his arch-nemesis Bowser? What the hells?).

This time around, how about they let the player pick from one of three ways to play - pre-set, random, or custom. Pre-set fights like the original - thematic matches laid out in a specific, never-changing order. Random fights like Melee - the general idea of the matches is set (albeit perhaps that those are also rearranged randomly, so perhaps your first fight is the metal one, your second the giant, etc), but the specifics can be as out there as the randomizer allows. And last theres custom, which lets you choose what will greet you at each stage - pick the type of match, character, stage; the works, including the option to make some of it random. Perhaps even give alternative bosses taken from Subspace Emissary to replace the Master/Crazy Hand if you're so inclined. Basically, create your own classic-style scenario. I know I'd love that. And it would expand possible unlock scenarios - perhaps Jigglypuff is unlocked only by beating the random mode with no continues, not pre-set or custom; or someone else will only appear if you beat pre-set mode on normal with only one life, etc.

^ While that would be beyond awesome, I'm happy with a hybrid of the two Classic modes - have thematic matches, but randomize the order (ex. Samus, then Kirby Team, then Giant DK, etc.) And if not that, then SSBM's is fine, I guess. But there's no way they'll cut Classic mode.

Now that I think about it, Melee's Adventure Mode pretty much WAS the classic mode from SSB64 with added stages (it was very similar anyway).

It would be nice to see a Soul Calibur/Tekken-esque system of fighters that have to do with the character you chose. Not so much like SE's scenarios, but just simple matchups for the characters.

Ie, Mario eventually fights Bowser, Link eventually fights Ganondorf. Again, not so much story/destiny battles like in SE, but just normal battles.

Well yes, as it seems like Subspace Emissary will have fixed characters (at least it seems like it) we need a 1-Player mode where you can use every character you unlock. (I don't know how you could use Pokemon Trainer in some Subspace Emissary stages, unless they were specially made for him) Also, it would be a better mode to get trophies and stuff.
