title should say "Chronicles of a Brawl Player that tried play Melee", me bad ^^;... why I can't edit titles??
EDIT: I can.... =P btw, it said "Chronicles of a Melee Player that tried play Melee" before
NOTE:This text is completely subjective, and only does express my thoughts. Nobody should feel offended by these... if they did, something's wrong with you...
A friend of mine runs a videogame store, he use to play most of those games (such as Halo, Guitar Hero, Gears of War...), and one day on I wanted to test my recently downloaded texture hacks, I asked him to borrow his wii, and he said something like "fine, but I really like Melee rather than Brawl", and I randomly replied "let me only test them, then, we'll play melee, it's ok?". He agreeded.
We played Brawl for about one hour. Then, I noticed he was pretty bored, and I said "let's switch to Melee" and he quickly restarted his wii, ejected Brawl and inserted Melee...
BUT I'M NOT A MELEE PLAYER!!
1. "Don't worry, it's ok..."
I said to myself "I've heard it's faster, and has hitstun... and wavedash... two or three battles could be enough to catch the rythm".... such a fool...
2. YOU DON'T RECOVER! oh wait, it's just that I can't recover as I've always done...
In other words, hitstun can be good advantage for the attacking player... but the attacked one it's ABSOLUTELY PWNED if well done (my friend didn't let me make anything in the whole first round! I MEAN IT!!). Also, accidentally pressing R doesn't help at all B(
I think I picked up Marth or Roy, but I'm really not sure...
3. Well, game it's definetly a lot faster, I shall be more aggressive
I picked up Link. It's a lot harder to spam his projectyles, but at least, he's a lot faster. I lol'd at his aereal UpB (much larger, yet, harder to hang the cliff), but I heally got trouble with his Zair (both attack and recovery).
Wasn't as bad as the forst one, but, I still couldn't make anything...
4. Tiers R 4... wait, what?
Picked up Fox (Yes, because of the tier list). His shine is good and has a big priority, but, overall, FOX IS REALLY HARD TO USE! Fox jumps pretty fast, it's not so different than the Brawl's one in that way... except that I have tap jump off... It really screwed my game...
I get my first KO that day by gimping with the shine (Success!!), but I somehow I ended dying in that jump anyways (Failure...).
By that rate, I was starting catching the rythm.
5. Why dont just use your mains?, you idiot
I tried using Peach... her Utilt was just silly... also, was weird using her second jump (in Brawl, sometimes I just use the second jump to float to offensive), and she looks weird when her hand stretches (although, those were useful).
I tried Zelda, but Din's Fire was a lame and her lightning kick was absudly hard to land!
Marth was good, at elast, my opponent awas pretty predictable, and Counter worked well; still, he completly beated me.
ToonLink (sorry, YoungLink), but since my game is bassically aereal, it was screwed up a lot...
G&W... in Brawl, I use a lot of UpB and Nair... enough said, isn't it?
MK... wait... there's not MK!
6. Main Random!
A lot of characters, but the same result most the time.
Sometimes, my friend lowered his level, but I wasn't even close of making competent with him...
I really don't know if the worse part was that I was being beaten all the time, or that I did never gave up...
7. When everything else fails, try the Puff!!
Random made me pick up Jiggs
I'm actually pretty good with her in Brawl (and I'm even better with her in BBrawl!), I gave me the chance to try it out (nothing else to lose...), and I almost won! I was so happy by that moment! I tried her again... and I got another good result! (no, I didn't won)
I made my friend rise his level again while I played Jiggs...
And I didn't won any single fight that day...
but it was okay, I didn't really hoped it too much anyways
When late, we quited the game (I didn't counted the tieme we were playing... was just A BUNCH of hours) In the end, he said "you play quite fine, keep trying it, may you can make something"
I won't quit Brawl, but Melee was a different experience... Maybe I can give it a chance later...
