Smash Lord
NOSTALGIA EXPLOSION ALL OVER YOUR FACE
Download here: (P.S. it doesn't work on a 64-bit OS afaik)
The premise of the game is that high-school nerd, Chip McCallahan, has met Melinda The Mental Marvel in the school science laboratory and must navigate through Melinda's "Clubhouse" (a series of increasingly difficult puzzles) in order to prove himself and gain membership to the very exclusive Bit Buster Club.
i.e. the GREATEST COMPUTER GAME OF MY CHILDHOOD. I remember enduring 2-hour long trips with my dad to visit his friend, just so I could snag about 10 minutes to play this game on his friend's computer (our computer didn't have the game, or it was too difficult to figure out where it was located idk [lol I was a kid leave me alone]). Those were some of the happiest days of my life...
Anyway I was sitting in Physics practical today and we made a program that basically allowed us to edit the messages you receive in the "ok/cancel" boxes that appear. For some reason, seeing this made me imagine a game being developed out of it (much in the same fashion as a multi-ending chapter book).
Then after this, for some unknown reason, I began to have an intense flashback to this amazing game, Chip's Challenge. I immediately shot out of my chair and started screaming at my friends "OMG REMEMBER CHIP'S CHALLENGE?!?!" (to my great surprise a few of them hadn't) and yeah... of course, after this initial nostalgia hit, there was absolutely nothing that could stand in the way of me and replaying this game again.
Decided to post this here to light a fire under some of your memory trees to smoke up a few good times. Definitely worth a revisit if you've played this game (don't need me to tell you that, of course) and DEFINITELY worth playing if you haven't already before (what a depraved childhood you must've led...).
