Also, there was a tourney last weekend at Depaul... although it was probably one of the most awful I've been to, it was still fun. It lacked any organization what so ever, but had a nice turn out of probably 150-200. They also had almost all stages on, and items on as well.......

There's a couple of places you can go for chicago tourney listings.
First is the IL thread on these forums. (http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=115739) Which is almost never updated due to the site's unpredictable stability.
Second is probably the better solution. Sign up to AllisBrawl.com and they have a nice system of looking up tournaments in your area, and as an added bonus, on your profile it lists how you placed in them, and also gives you medals for high placing. (http://www.allisbrawl.com/forum/topic.aspx?id=2540) I recommend this one greatly.
