Smash Lord
Hey everyone, I've decided to perform a fun little data compilation of character usage online on smash 3ds. In essence, I have been spectating smash matches, both For Fun and For Glory, and tallying each character every time they are observed. Every 300 matches, I will post the tallies for each fighter in this OP. My reasons:
1. For entertainment.
2. For those curious about character usage.
3. To explore the online mentality and see who people adhere to under online conditions.
I will do a huge sample for more accurate results. The larger the sample, the more accurate it is. I have broken 200 matches so far and will keep going. The results may or may not surprise you.
Note: Conquests don't seem to have much effect on the overall results, as my observations have spanned two conquests and the usage rates have been consistent during both.
For responses here, give me some predictions; tell me how often you think I'll see your main, or any character in general. We'll see how accurate you guys end up being.

Some things I noticed:
-, and were the rarest fighters. It took me 157 matches before I saw 1 WFT, 231 before I saw an Olimar, and 238 before I saw a Rosa. Ironically, two more Rosa's showed up after that, making Olimar the rarest character so far. Only 1 Olimar in 300 games!
-EVERYONE uses and , as you can see from the results. Other simple, heavy hitting characters like the other super heavies, , and projectile-heavy powerhouse characters like ,, and were also pretty common, suggesting that simplicity and effective projectiles + finishers, seem to be favored.
- Conquests didn't matter much, except for strangely and . People use Robin decently often normally, and Lucario very rarely, but during their conquests, they spiked more than all of the other characters, including the others involved.
-Japanese players favored more complex, technical characters like , , , and . Nearly everyone one of those characters, plus nearly every single , was Japanese. Meanwhile, American and European smashers used a lot more , , , and than the Japanese.
-, , and showed up mostly in 1v1s, while , , , and showed up mostly in groups. Exactly as you probably all expected. However, most characters were pretty evenly distributed between all game types and groups, including , interestingly.
