I apologize in advance if this is not in the right section.

I have a major problem with, probably the one and only, CSP guide in YouTube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLeVyjb7AFo&feature=player_profilepage

I've followed the instructions perfectly until the 7:03 part of the video where he explains how to smooth the portrait via Refining the edges with an Alpha channel. I get my Alpha channel with the "small ghostly white border" around the CSP. HOWEVER, this does nothing to the actual picture. I made sure of this by adding a whole bunch of crap and making a huge mess out of the Alpha Channel and still the picture was not affected.

The way I''ve been smoothing my CSPs is with a Layer Mask but that always leaves some Magenta outline traces that I have to manually delete, and upon doing that I'm left with jagged edges again...

Can somebody explain what the purpose of the Alpha Channel work in that video is please? The author says nothing about its effects on the picture.

PS: I use Photoshop CS3 and YES, I did make this thread in the Kitty boards a few weeks ago but it seems the forums are down and I only got irrelevant answers.

Forget that method, its waaay to hard and confusing. Just use BrawlScape. You can literally replace a CSP in less than 10 seconds. Sooo much easier.

OH i thought that was to save the folder locations!

but i just remembered i dont have any of the brres files. i didn't use the brawl ISO for this.
I'm probably going to use the old fashioned method instead of this though.

If you use Smashbox you can do it just as easily except you only need the common5.pac. Unless you really care about the portrait showing up correctly in the few seconds after the match.

I rather stick to Photoshop since it's what I know best.
What really bugs me is that I can't get a smooth CSP upon indexing the picture since it gets all jaggy.

I've seen some great smooth portraits but I can't figure out how they indexed the CSP and still kept crispy smooth edges...

Where are all the CSP makers at? I need some tips please.
