Roy's game had not been released when melee came out, your arguement is invalid, nintendo probably notifies sakurai of these characters as it promotes new games. Mario Galaxy isn't a 1st party nintendo game i think....I believe it was made by another group

Depends on how long the games have been in development for, probably. We know that Smash has included a character from an unreleased game at least once before.

Which are, ironically, both a response to fan out-cry for certain characters to be included, but not enough time to implement them properly. I imagine Brawl would've been a bit different had Sonic not been added in so late.

I had suspected that the roster was finalized sometime last year (likely during the planning stages of the game), so this is no surprise to me. The sooner the roster is finalized, the sooner the team can add them to the game, which means lower risk of characters getting cut during development.

I was always pretty sure they finialize the roster early because of course they have Story Mode to consider now. You need characters before you can write a story. I also don't think Sakurai adheres to requests all that much.

Becuas,e aside from the already revealed charatcer, we still don't know which character have been picked. Which pretty much makes the argment "the roster has already been picked" invalid, as we don't knowall the character that have been picked. Because convincing Sakurai and company was never really the point. There's not really a chance that Sakurai peruses the internet, looking for characters to add. The only thing we all agree on is that Sakurai is the type of artist who just does his own thing. He looks at the Smash fanbase in total, and the one with the intensity to contact the team through other means.

It's not ignorance. Speculating is just really fun, and I would hope most of us realize that it doesn't have a large impact on the final product. But, that doesn't make it pointless. It has the same amount of purpose as posting on any other thread in a fan forum on the internet.
