This is the first big project that the Smash Lab will be tackling. The project will consist of thoroughly researching each and every character in the game and releasing "official" data. But before we even begin this project, there are a few things that we need to iron out, first:

1. There are quite a few things that we could be potentially researching. So we must first figure out, specifically, what data we will be researching for every character.

2. WE NEED THIS TO BE READABLE BY A MASS AUDIENCE INCLUDING CASUAL PLAYERS. As much as I'm sure we all love reading dense threads filled to the brim with numbers, we need a template that is easy to read, informative, and holds people's attention. Videos are also incredibly useful, so we may want to figure out if we should do something with videos, too.

3. Who will we start with? I'm inclined to say we make our way down the tier list for the order of characters.

4. Who will be doing what? Will this be a community project where everyone contributes where possible, or will we have assigned some people to specific data, and place a "due date" on researching X characters in Y days? Obviously these assignments shouldn't be strict by any means, but, for example, if we have one person researching the jab frame data for the first 10 characters we research, then that could serve as an effective means to finish as many characters as possible.

I will possibly add more to this later, but this is a tentative list of what we need to figure out before the project even begins.

I saw some people were saying that we need to do something 'big' or get started on something to make ourselves 'legitimate.' I assume this could be our first 'big project,' no?

1. We've a lot of things covered and listed for character frame data already. Should we include something more in this "Character Research Project?" Or will it be strictly frame data?

2. The template in the character frame data thread seems usable enough. :D As for the videos, I agree they would be very useful...though also potentially time consuming depending on what we want to accomplish with them.

3. My first thought was to have people choose a character they want to work on and let them go at it. As long as each character gets done in the end it doesn't matter much what order. We could make a list of what everyone is doing or a "Who's doing what right now" thread or something...

4. Same as #3. As for a "due date,", I'm not sure. Everyone has other stuff going on, and going through this is a lengthy process. We could see how long one character would take and then go from there? I also think that leaving one character for one person is better than splitting up different attack types or w/e between people. I think it would be more organized that way.

Mostly restating what was in the thread, but I just want to get the ball rolling...so to speak.

I'm ready to get started...I just hope we can figure everything out and get the ball rolling.
