Character Lists are so Conventional...

Yesterday I made a list of characters I deemed worthy of making it to Brawl... A lot of people have made those. Now, I'm makind an omission list. This has a list of characters that are fairly commonly suggested, but in my books have zero chance of making it to Brawl. Here we go!
Mario Series:
Toad: Part of Peach's moveset. Get over it!
Waluigi: A lame addition that's a character filler for the Mario Sports/Party spinoffs.
Daisy: Peach's alt costume
Baby Mario/Luigi: Are you kidding me?

Zelda Series:
Mask Link: He was a one shot character (in one of the best games in his series, but only one), that was released a while ago. His odds are severely slim.
Zant: He's a minor villain that appeared in one game. I doubt Zelda will get two villains, yet alone a one shot villain.
Vaati: He has appeared in more games than Zant, but will be limited to a boss in the SSE as well as an AT.

Kirby Series:
Wadle Dee/Doo: Lol

Fox Series:
Wolf: Is cosmetically similar to Fox and there are more deserving characters.
Fox's crew: They will be part of the supporting cast, part of an FS (perhaps Falco's?), or an AT.

Metroid Series:
Dark Samus: My argument will be quite hypocritical because I support Cel Link, but she is too similar to Samus. She isn't that popular, and would have many moves made up. Plus, Metroid won't get more than 3 reps. (You all know what I'm implying ;) )

Wario Series:
Anyone: Wario is an extension of Mario that got his own icon. He will get an AT or two, but nothing beyond that. Maybe an Ashley (haunted mansion) stage? That will probably be a Luitig stage though.

Third Parties:
Anyone: The third parties will get ATs, maybe a lot of them, but each included third party series will only have a single playable "guest" character.
Chrono
Cloud
Master Chief: Wow

Classics:
Anyone for the confirmed classics: Similar to third parties.
Sukapon: What's a Sukapon?
Balloon Fighter: The fish on the IC stage makes his odds slim to none. He might bring the Ice Burhg back onto the mountain?

Fire Emblem:
Sigurd: Ike has a Sigurd outfit
<insert lord/character that is not Michaih or Marth>: Take a hint

Veterans:
Ness: "Up until now"
Roy: He was merely in for promotion and bulking up the roster
Dr.Mario: Sorry for all those 2 of you who care
Pichu: He evolved into Pikachu ;)
Y.Link: There are other ways to work and alternate Link than this clone

Sitting on the fence

Wolf Link+Midna: I like them but it's questionable

Claus: Earthbound will not likely get more than one rep. I could be wrong.

K.Rool: I don't know too much about him

Black Shadow: His odds are low

Starfy: AT

Feel free to make suggestions to my list.

I would love to see some semi-longshots get in Brawl. In fact, I think that they will.

Think about it this way: how does Sakurai select characters? On some level, he gives fans of each franchise and each genre someone to play play. Beyond that, though, I think that he primarily has been choosing people who would be cool in a completely random fighting-ish game. The "such-and-such" is more deserving argument, in particular, needs to die. It counts once: when the franchise has no characters at all. Beyond that, "there are more deserving characters than George Weasly" means nothing if George Weasly would be cool in Brawl. He wouldn't.

Some characters are easy to predict, but historically we should expect some long shots. I would personally love to see Lloyd Irving. His moves would fit so naturally into an ssb moveset, and he's from an RPG - a genre not well represented in Brawl, as far as we have seen (correct me if I'm being an idiot. FE is quite different from a conventional RPG, but I could see your point if you call it one).

I bet that I just got Lloyd added to your omission roster. That's OK; I know that he won't make it.

He's probably not going to make it but, well, you never know. I bet that there will be some people that we didn't see coming, perhaps some on this list.

There are a few characters that you should add....

As you know, Sakurai can choose what to reveal in the updates. This leads me to believe that if any character is shown in an update as a sticker, trophy, etc., it will not be playable (unless they've been updated as a playable character beforehand). That means these characters can't be playable:

Sothe (shown as a sticker in the spectator update)
Silver the Hedgehog ( shown as a sticker in the spectator update)
Dixie Kong (shown in the trophy update)
Tingle (shown in the trophy update)
The guy from Big Brain Academy (shown in sticker update)
Balloon Fighter (shown in sticker update)
Rawk Hawk (show in sticker update)
Tom Nook (this one's arguable, but is there any reason for Sakurai to show a playable character in an update before revealing them first???)

Also, there are a few I don't agree to have zero chance:
Vaati (not huge chances, but some)
Sukapon (was on Sakurai's poll and is wanted in Japan)

About Dark Samus, why does 3 Metroid reps. seem so unreasonable? It is one of Nintendo's best franchises and it deserves to be on par with the Kirby franchise who gets 3 reps.

I mostly agree, but there are a few that I think are wrong.

Sothe-He said Fire Emblem Lords or characters other than Micaiah or Marth
Silver-He said that 3rd parties will probably only get 1 rep
Dixie-So what if she's a trophy? Look at Melee
Tingle-See Dixie
Dr. Lobe-It could be similair to Trophys in Melee
Balloon Fighter-See "The guy from Big Brain Academy" "Dr. Lobe"
Rawk Hawk-See Balloon Figher
Tom Nook-Dunno

And by the way if you say anything about their sticker/trophy's graphics are not up to date, check one of your Ice Climber trophies in Melee, K?

Disagree with the Dark Samus comment... at least Dark Samus and Samus are completely different characters unlike a certain swordsman. There is no need to make up moves for her either that don't exist in game. She/it would be the best third rep for Metroid if it got one, since Samus does not have a Dark Samus alt. (Not counting Zero Suit as a separate character, forth rep if you count her separate I guess). Much more so than any of the Hunters since Dark Samus is a reoccurring villain, who IMO is much more awesome than any of them.

Sukapon... don't say a character won't be in if you don't know anything about them, that is my advice. Although he would be different, he seems like a very interesting character. While I am not hoping he is in Brawl, I certainly wouldn't complain if he was.

On Claus, you very well could be right, but I think if Mother gets a second rep, Masked Man is the best fit for the spot.

Well, technically, Cel Link is a decendent of TP Link, and Minish Link is an ancestor of TP Link. Minish Link is FS Link's ancestor, and FS Link is Cel Link's ancestor. I still think that Cel Link has higher odds. Personal opinion though.

And to vesperview. I stated that some have a "sitting on the fence status". And I don't think Tingle will make it (coolest character if he did though).

For the most part i agree with you except I wouldn't be mad if Waluigi was in, and I don't think K. Rool should be considered to be "on the fence". I think his chances are pretty d@mn good in my opinion.

But other than that you made since. Haha at the waddle dee cuz that is a horrible character suggestion.

Ike has a Sigurd outfit? Well, Pikachu is wearing Red's hat so he obviously cannot be in... oh wait... Other than that, all we have to go on is blurry footage. Remember the Wolf Fox Costume problem? Now look, its actually DARK FOX.

As for the sticker arguements, that makes NO SENSE. The Stickers seem to be official art from different games, so that does not hurt chances at all.

so they're going to cut Y Link, and replace him with... who?
Did you think over Vaati much, he's the "first" villain Hyrule ever sees (chronologically) and he's widely popular.

Sukapon would be obvious to put in as a random retro character. It's from a game pre-dating Smash, that pretty much started smash. Did I mention it was made by HAL, who invented Smash?

Simple, another rep who deserves it more, like Olimar
I doubt Nintendo's 3rd biggest series will actually lose a rep in Brawl, rather than gaining one, or staying the same.

If no one replaces Y Link, Zelda will be a man down. Personally I think Midna and Tingle have no shot at all, merely because Tingle is a joke and Midna is a one time thing that didn't make much of a storm, and wouldn't work without another form of link.

Vaati, Skull Kid (who could work better than Midna) and possibly Zant (though not likely) are really the only other 2 options, other than something crazy like 8-bit octorok or something

Sukapon was shot down by Sakurai in earlier Melee blogs. Won't happen.

Wolf's chances RETURNED with Fox's dark suit not being Wolf, though I'm not that supportive of him.

And the point of "Why would Sakurai show any character in an unplayable form before revealing them as a playable character" is a good one, though I'm not sure how good. We will see.

I still think they should get Zelda, Link, and Ganon. That's it.

Young Link is important to the series as well. He won't leave. And seeing as how we have Link, Zelda and Ganondorf already in TP form, I don't even see why people are begging for Midna. Don't we have ENOUGH Twilight Princess representation already?

Yeah, we do. Because Brawl is a fan based project, and WW Link has shown his popularity with sales of Wind Waker and the quickest selling Zelda game yet, Phantom Hourglass. So you can continue to repeat yourself like a robot, because WW Link will definitely make it.

So, you say K. Rool have no chances because you "Don't know him well"?

Wow, I am now really convinced he won't make it in Brawl.
I give him credit for at least sitting on the fence for K Rool. But he said no to Sukapon and has no idea who it is, not even sitting on the fence...

Yea, when I think about it, it is kind of like a fan based project. Imagine if WW Link was announced first and not TP Link, how would the fans of Adult Link feel? How would guys feel, if people we're demanding TP Link to be in along with WW Link, would you still be saying no, he's just another Link, yet we do not need him.

Seeing that Melee was rushed and all, only the Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon series got more than 2 playable reps. If the Kirby and Metroid series was more popular than those series, would we have able see King DDD, MetaK, Ridley in Melee instead of some characters??

Well, anyways, I'm sure they're going to focus on getting more characters from other series. However, I doubt they're going ignore the most popular and well-known series, and not add any new characters.

Here's a general Cel Link moveset:

B Tingle Tuner: A Tingle icon appears on the stage and you may move it and release B to have Tingle drop a bomb there.

B^ Deku Leaf: While on ground you blow it at the foe, while in the air, it lifts you up and you glide onto the stage.

B> Wind Waker: BLows a gust of wind after perorming Wind's Requiem at double speed.

Bv Safety Zone: Link creates a safety zone underneeth him where he can't be hurt by projectiles, and it is fairly large. It protects anyone inside it. The zone lasts as long as there is a character in it. If it is vacant for 3 seconds, it vanishes.

FS Phantoms: Link disappears. 3 phantoms appear on stage for about 10 seconds. They are extremely slow, and their juming abilitites are the worst in the game. You draw lines on the screen to move them towards foes. After they charge their attack and hit a foe, it is an instant kill.

I agree that most of your choices have low chances, but to say that they basically have zero chances is a bit too much.

Remember Lucas? The Mother series is an RPG.

The more we get Assist Trophies, the more I think that Brawl is still going on their most popular franchise. I mean, now that I look at Saki from close, I realized he could have been an awesome addition to the roster. But that didn't happen. Why? Maybe it's because his serie/himself is not that important or not that popular.

Melee only had three new series (Well, actually 2...:ohwell:) that was introduced: IceClimbers, FE, and G&W. The rest we're additions of series that was already repped. That makes 4 out of 25. Sure, Melee was rushed, but we would just have gotten characters like Ridley, King DDD and K.Rool instead of clones (Which are from series that has already been repped).
Of course, these series have only been repped once in melee, so it is only fair for to have more.

All I'm saying is from the looks of it, it seems they're still going to focus on their "main" franchises and add a or 2 character for like three new series (Like Pikmin or Golden Sun). And put other characters as AT that are not as important or not as popular.
