Casual now, wouldn't mind being more competitive

I've played Smash Bros on and off since the beginning with friends. We just do multiplayer battles and what not. I've started watching the competitive scene on Twitch and really enjoy it. I wouldn't mind uping my game and maybe even trying a tourney or two some time. Any tips for basic level players trying to get better? Any where around Columbus Ohio, or west of Columbus that people play regularly? Any advice would be helpful thanks!

As far as finding more about tournaments and how the scene is in your area, give these places a look:

As for getting better, I'd recommend this article:

Although the topic of this one is Melee, the tips apply for any Smash Bros. game really.

But welcome to Smashboards, I hope you enjoy your time here!
