I got a capture card a few months back -- a Dazzle DVD Recorder. I got a little confused setting it up at first, but I eventually figured it out and got it installed and working -- I was able to record a few gameplay videos.
Shortly afterward, I had laptop troubles and in order to try and fix it I restored my system to a previous state, therefore uninstalling the software for it (which is Pinnacle Instant DVD Recorder v2.5).
My laptop eventually started working again, but I didn't end up wanting to use the capture card again for a while. However, a few weeks ago when I decided I wanted to use it again, I remembered that the software was gone and had to re-install it. I put in the disk and tried re-installing it, but every time it ended up randomly stopping partially through the installation, and this has happened every time since when I try to install it. It begins, then it goes to a "Preparing to install..." screen for about 5 seconds before that disappears and the disk drive ceases activity.
As a test, I tried installing it on my friend's laptop the other day, and it installed without any sort of trouble -- but I don't know what it is that could be wrong with my laptop that's causing the malfunction all of a sudden.
If anyone has any suggestions for how I might fix it, or if there's perhaps a better free software to use with the capture card, it would be greatly appreciated.
