UPDATE: We are officially taking pledges here. Go donate!!!
Hi folks,
Capitan Tavo has recently contacted me and Mariguas and has said that, if he can, he'd like to come to the United States to attend Apex 2014 this year, "a demostrarles mi poder": to demonstrate [his] power.
But to do that, he'd need financial support from the Smash community. He'd fly out of Lima, and visas to come to the United States are very expensive (like 200 bucks). He may play like a millionaire, but he just can't afford the trip. We'd likely need to underwrite a significant portion of his total costs. So I've started this thread to determine what kind of support the 64 community can generate to get one of history's greatest Captain Falcon players to compete on an international stage.
If you're a member of the Smash 64 community, I'd like to know: what would you contribute to see Capitan Tavo come to the United States and contend live on stream? What's it worth for you to watch him take on the other titans of 64 history? What value does this have for our game and our community when one of the singular forces in boundary-busting Smash 64 play is broadcast to the largest audience this game has known?
Can we bring the world-class Capitan Tavo to Apex? Is this a cause the 64 community can provide for? I think that if you consider seriously the value of an opportunity like this, it is obvious and it is immense in the good that it would do for our game. And I think this is something we're capable of. Are you down?
