Cannot remove players unless I unplug their controller.

When I press A on the button to add or remove a player on the menu screen, it only toggles between CPU and Player, so the only option for dropping someone out is unplugging. This just started happening recently. I have a few pieces of custom content, but it is all music, so it shouldn't affect this. Help!

that happens if the other player's cursor is on the top half of the screen where the portraits are. just drag player 2's little cursor/hand thing to the bottom and it should work fine

Sadly, that did not work. Not even Player 2 can get rid of him/herself.
