I've found SNES connectors to the Gamecube slot so I've gotten curious if you could play smash on it and I'm sure it would be REALLY odd unless you altered some of the controls and you would lack a c-stick. But, it maybe impossible due to it having no control stick, does the d-pad on the SNES controller represent the d-pad on the GCN controller or the control stick, if represents the d-pad then its impossible to move in play as the d-pad would make you just taunt.

And even if it was possible would it be tourney legal to use and SNES controller?

doubt you can used snes controller for brawl, the dpad is most likely recognized as the dpad on the gc. tourny legal, maybe. don't see why not.

You should probably try it out yourself instead of asking. Of course that what I would be saying if you had an SNES controller. It might work for the Virtual Console games that you've downloaded. But I doubt it'd work for any Smash game unless you were able to set the keys like you can with a LogiTech controller or PS3 controller on your computer.

The classic controller is just an snes controller with a couple of extra buttons and 2 control sticks, why not just use that?

I know where you can get a classic controller that uses a GC plug so it's recognized as a gc but is designed to be a classic. However the controller may not be as responsive as an original classic controller.

I ordered 2 no-names GC's and man they lacked response, and one of the c-sticks don't function properly in brawl. I can move it around in a pasue camera and turning the camera angle in the menu but it doesn't respond when actually playing.

no analo- well, the d pad can be used, just like on the wiimote no nunchuck. i guess select can be taunt; select and up, down, left, right, for other taunts. >_>. it could work, but it would be hard.

I just tried it. But with much difficulty, I found out that the Dpad DOES represent the Dpad on the GC. I found it really hard to attack, even when stationary.
