Can you do 4 player online friend matches, 4 wiis?

Just curious as to whether you can do teams with people who aren't in the same room. What I mean is:

P1, P2, P3, P4 all add each others friend code
P1 creates game, P2, 3, and 4 all join
P1 and P2 get on a team, P3 and P4 as well.

Alright thanks. I just wasn't sure if Nintendo had crippled their online even further to only allow 2 Wiis to play against each other at the same time, like *certain* other Wii games.
