You could buy a keyboard at your local computer store. I'm sure you could get one cheap.

If you're short on cash and want it to work for multiple games, 360 is nice. Hell, I want one.

With new you mean just bought?
Where i can find new n64 controllers?
Sorry yeah I mean just bought. Often you can find N64 controllers that have almost never been used, and they have great joysticks.

As for new ones, you can still buy new (in the package) 3rd-party controllers, but they usually are in weird shapes and just not the same as a real n64 controller. But, if you can find them cheap, might be worth a try if you have no other choice, seeing as they would be totally new.

I think Ninty still sells N64 controllers at their online store.

And that's what you meant by new. I don't really like the N64 sticks, TBH. But they can be accustomed to. Been so long anyways so I don't know.

Get an N64 controller if you want to be good at the game on console too. Otherwise get a GC troller or use KB for hack DI.

What is it that "breaks" an N64 controller's stick though? I've had the same controller since 1997, and I played my with my N64 a lot prior to well into the following generation, as I didn't get a PS2 or Gamecube for a while. I even opened the sucker up once. Inside the actual box containing the stick, a bunch of plastic shavings/dust came out. I assume this got shaved off from the inside of the mechanism that holds the box... so maybe eventually this builds up and "breaks" the stick? So opening it up, cleaning it out, and realigning it might fix it. It is a pain to get back together though.

Yeah you can see this dust/shavings in the pit of the joystick well on a well-used joystick. I think it might make more sense that "overuse" of the joystick grinds away at the plastic around it, which for some reason Ninty made with some weak-*** material, and as the material around is grated away, the joystick gets looser.

hey i found this extremely rare n64 to pc adaptoid. you can check it out at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...DLVI&ps=54

in case some people don't know what that is, its the adapter that connects the n64 controller to an usb port on a pc to play super smash 64 online flawlessly or any other n64 game.

The adaptoid has been discontinued for the past couple of years and it is nearly impossible to find one online.

Enjoy.

That link doesn't work... but I found it anyway. Yikes, already over 60 bucks... I want it so bad....

All those other adapters with the fake "Adaptoid" naming piss me off. I got all excited.

I just use a normal USB controller -- A Nyko Airflo. It's not the best thing in the world, but it works. I tried an N64 adapter once, but it was crap. It was uber-sensitive in the menus, but very slow in-game; I couldn't run at all (yes, I messed with the deadzone).

Erm, only for the nostalgia. Otherwise, N64 joystick bores more into your thumb [by a bit] and lasts less. I just tested both right now.

If for some reason you like that kind of feeling...go for it.

N64 controller is the best. It's just too much of a hassle to replace the sticks unless you're a smash god like Dan here and need the best. Honnestly I dont think most of us would do much better online if we had n64 controllers vs gamecube.

Id recomend what im getting, gamecube. The stick wont wear out for a LONG time.

For best results, n64.

For best, best results : Console!!

N64 controllers were great. If you played a lot, you eventually got a feel for your controller and nothing else would do as long as you were used to it. My controller's joystick moves by itself if you tilt the controller since it's so loose, and you have to press really hard to dash, but it's my controller and I play best with it. Can't use any other one without feeling weird.

Lately I've been using the Nyko Wing Classic Controller, mainly because of the feel of the controller and the abilitiy to Smash is much more fluid and less laggy in my opinion. On a plus side its a wireless controller with no lag as far as I ca tell, which is especially nice. Although I've just barely used it, I think I'm getting the hang of it but it will take more time considering I've been using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combo since the release of Brawl, its become second hand nature for me.
