C-stick or not for the dair in the Ken Combo

Do you guys find it easier to c-stick the dair right after you double jump to spike during the Ken Combo? Does this make it faster (or is analog stick and A faster) and allow you to spike before you jump too high for them?

The Forward Air to Down Air presents itself in situations that arise because of the right percentage, the right placing on the stage blah blah. Its a very flashy and cool finisher but too situational to use all the time. Its heavily dependent on the opponents DI (as in when they 'pop' out right after fair/bair) and whether they can retaliate or not before you can use Dair finisher.

Using the C stick ( asusing the A button does screw up your DI recovery a bit) is better as you can get back to the stage by DI back towards the stage after pressing the C stick. And it also allows you to not risk fast falling.

C-stick is better overall as you can control your movement while using it. I use C-stick for all my aerials except for Nair.. but then again I use control stick to jump and wavedash and waveshine and anything else you can think of that uses a jump (yeah I know kinda weird for all you X and Y users).

I feel more comftorable using the analog stick and the A button. I find it faster than the C-stick, but that's probably because I'm so used to it.

same. i personally prefer to use the A stick, because i quickly double jump then push down A (so that i'm doing the down-air while DI'in up and in a direction), and well, this gives me more then anough leway to get back on the ledge. but thats just me

I'd have to watch you waveshine someone using the control stick, rub my eyes, watch you do it again, then videotape your fingers.
lol lol lol:laugh:

...well i use the A to spike. and u dont risk fast falling if u use it while ur going upwards..as u usualy do to prevent dieing..

I think its mostly a decision of comfort. Most are comfortable with being safe and not risking that death plummet fast fall using the c-stick. And some take the risk because they're experienced enough to know when its too late to press the stick down.

As for me...I alternate between the two. It really depends on the situation and opponent.
For example, a Falcon and I are tied at 3 stocks. I tipped him off at 60% and he Up+B's the ledge. Since his cheap dry-hump attack is basically a proximity grab, I'd use the c-stick to avoid DI'ing or fast falling into his buff, spandex stretching grip.

I usually only attempt the ken combo when I'm high above the stage, so i can afford to use down A, in fact, I like fast falling it, i think it looks cooler lol. but if you know how to use tilt attacks, i dont see why fast falling should be a problem. if you use the same pressure as when you use a tilt, you won't fast fall.
anyway, they way i hold the controller is weird, so sometimes when i try to c stick down, i accidently do a bair or something...so I've just trained myself to use A for uairs and dairs

I switch between the c-stick and down A, depending on how quickly I use the dair. If I need to dair immediately in order to spike my target, then I down A since I can easily slide my thumb from the X button to A. Otherwise, I just c-stick down.

Maybe we should ask Ken.. After all, he made the combo.

Wavedashing with the control-stick is soooo hard. You can mess up easily.

C-stick It has better control and its doesnt take much more time to slide from Y to c-stick than from Y to A.

I normally use A for my fairs since it's quicker to slide my thumb from Y to A, but if I see an oppurtunity for a ken combo, i'd slide my thumb over again to the C-Stick to make sure I space properly for the upcoming fair/dair. Yeah, I guess it's a matter of comfort, but personally I C-Stick for better DI control.

In the Ken Combo I always use the c-stick. This way I have better control, because I can spike and at the same time I can use the analog stick for DI. For normal aerial attacks I use controllstick and a cuz I think this is a little more faster than c-stick

I'm still familiarizing myself with the Ken combo. I know C-stick is the best decision but when you need to do spike immediately after the second jump, do you still use c-stick or down A? I always try to C-stick but my fingers are never fast.. plus my opponents always DI away from it..
