First off i'll introduce myself.
I've been browsing these forums for a few years but never signed up. As a result of watching combo videos and reading guides for characters, I bought a gamecube and a n64 just to play the smash bros games. I got this crazy idea that if I kept practicing I could win a few tournaments in the nearby Atlanta city. I still play my gamecube on a weekly basis, but recently it's been getting very old.

I've played Brawl at a few friends houses recently and loved it. The character roster is insane, and I had trouble just choosing one.

So a few questions:

How much would a wii and brawl cost?

What other games on wii are worth a buy?

Which controller is dominant? (I use the game cube controller while playing, but i'm not sure.)

Are there any players around the Atlanta area? It's about a 30 minute drive from my house.

Is the online support for Brawl any good? I've heard alot of good and bad things about it.

No matter the cost, it's worth it.

Some other games you should get:
Mario Kart - for a racing game

Mario Party 8 - for a party game

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - for a great adventure game

Super Mario Galaxy - for another great adventure game

Wii Sports Resort - for a good Wii Remote experience

That's about the best games other than Brawl.

Wii is usually $200, Brawl $50 assuming you're buying brand new in-store.

Depends on your tastes. There are a lot of cheap (i.e. $5-15) games available for download, plus all Gamecube games are fully compatible with the exception of the Game Boy Player and the games that support broadband LAN, since there's no LAN port for those to use.

Which controller is dominant? (I use the game cube controller while playing, but i'm not sure.)
Gamecube for the games that support it, but most games force the use of the Wiimote due to the motion controls.

Depends on what you define good as. It's not quite the same as playing with someone right next to you, especially if you're connection is horrific, but if you're playing against friends out of state and you both have great connections to each other than it's definitely worth getting, especially if you usually play by yourself.

Many thanks! You really cleared things up for me..

I hope to get one by the end of this weekend, or the end of next week at the latest.

I live in the UK so I won't know how much it is, over at Atlanta.

What other games on wii are worth a buy?
Too biased to answer this.

Gamecube controller. It's best to try all though, and see what works best for yourself.

Offline is always better. Online can still help you improve though. You can still learn how to deal with X character and gain some match up experience from it. Obviously you'll have to find someone who doesn't lag much against you.

First off, this is suppose to be in the Light House section. Secondly, it's always really nice to see more Wii owners every day. Thrdly, response below:

$300 without tax. Add that by 1.(Whatever your sales tax is) and you get how much you need to save up. It should cost around $325.

This is an really controversial one among Nintendo gamers. For me, there are hundread of titles out there worth a buy. The only thing you need to watch out for is shovelware. A suggestion is to read through Metacritics and Game Ranking to see what games interest you and see what others recommend. If anyone said the Wii sucks, ignore it and form your own opinion instead.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I see a lot of people favoring the Nintendo Gamecube controller. I don't have a Gamecube controller anymore, so I go with the Wii Remote + Nunchuck combination.

Sorry, can't help you there.

Hate to tell you this, but you are going to absolutely hate online. Most matches lag like it was in ****, they tend to disconnect A LOT, Smash Service is useless, and there isn't much to do overall. There is almost nothing good I can say about the online.

I think that's your connection quality SSBF, I very rarely lose connection, and only about 5% of the time have noticable lag.

Looks like your question is resolved, but for any other gaming stuff in the future, use the light house forum, which is listed in the General Gaming section of the forums.

Thanks!
