Building a Joint

I have to build a synovial joint for my kinesiology class in the next couple of days and I, unfortunately, have to build an ellipsoid/condylar joint. So i decided to build a model of a finger joint. I just have no idea where to start. My teacher said paper towel rolls could be useful? WTF? I honestly suck at things like this and I'm currently ****ting bricks because I have no clue what to do. And this information is not even available online. Plus I have to include all the muscles, tendons and ligaments surrounding the joint.

PLEASE HELP!!?

As long as it doesn't have to be functional, it shouldn't be that hard. If your teacher suggested paper towel rolls, the bar is set pretty low to begin with.

Information is available online, you probably just aren't using wide enough search terms on how to build models or sculptures.

How big were you planning on making the sculpture?

Yea sorry I forgot to mention that its gotta be able to move. And I'm thinking just making it close to life size, not really that big. Maybe make the bones with clay and then have rubber bands or something as ligaments? I have no idea.

I can see how paper towel or toilet paper rolls might be useful. Use the cardboard at the center of the roll; one for each bone, and connect them with "joints".

this is also misleading. I want to believe its intentional, but I've never seen Goldshadow joke about anything

Get some piping, and make each individual bone. I was thinking with paper mache perhaps...or maybe some modeling clay. Except it wouldn't harden, which would be a *****.

Making them move it what will suck. You need like hinge type design for it. So it couldnt bend up. A ball for the joint wouldn't constrict the movement, but you could with some extraneous measures. Building a hange type thing for the movement would work better.

Now, when you say move? You mean like posable and whatnot right? Not robotic?

You could always cut off one of your own phalanges. That's dedication, right?

In all seriousness, rubber bands. Or Chaco's idea of hinges is kinda neat.

Ahaha suspect :bee:

And yea, I mean posable, doesn't have to move on its own but should be able to move. Hmm, I was thinking using modelling clay as well and joining all the bones using rubber bands?? What could I use to represent the muscles? Balloons??

Balloons only come in certain shapes, so that's restrictive. Theres gotta be a better alternative.
