I don't care if you're a Packers fan, a Bears fan, a Giants fan or a Patriots fan, this should make you very sad. The NFL (indeed, all of professional sports) just saw one of the greatest players in the history of the game take the last knee.

For many of us, Brett Favre has been a fixture in the NFL for nearly all of our waking lives. He will be missed.

To whoever changed the name of the topic, I'll remind you that the Bears are still starting Rexie the ****** Grossman. They've got nothing to rejoice about.

I'm a Packers fan, and I'm kinda glad he finally left. I thought he would give it one more go since they really have a chance this year, but looks like he's worn out.

At least Aaron Rodgers looks promising.

I am a big fan of Brett, but seeing him leave doesn't make me sad... retirement is just another part of the game, every1 has to leave one day or another.

Brett Favre is, in my opinion, one of the greatest to ever play the game.
He's been the quarterback of the Packers since I have been alive, and he will be missed.

I agree though, Aaron Rodgers looks like he can take over. They may not make the playoffs, but he looks promising.

I've grown up watching Brett. In fact, I can't remember watching a Packer game where Brett wasn't starting (not counting preseason, of course).

This came as a shock to me since I really felt he'd give it at least one more try after last season. As for Rodgers being ready, I don't know. He gets injured pretty easily it seems, and he's no Iron Man like Favre.

Very, very sad to see Brett leave.

I saw that thing about Gygax, too. That's just as sad.

For those of you who don't know, Gary Gygax was the guy who created Dungeons and Dragons. Besides creating a lasting hobby that encourages creativity and annoys the Christian right, Gygax is also indirectly responsible for most of the fantasy games we all enjoy today.

Take a knee for Favre and roll a d20 for Gygax. It's a sad day on football fields and poorly lit basements across the country.

As a Bears fan, the joy of seeing a division rival get weaker is nothing compared to the sadness of seeing a great player like Favre retire. It will also be sad that we can't hear Madden fawn over Favre like he was his life partner anymore; I always got a kick out of that.

Man, screw the Bears, the Lions my favorite team can rejoice. I'll have you know we have been 17-0 at Lambo field thanks to Brett Farve. Frankly, this is such a sigh of relief. Now maybe we can win at there place for once.

I wanted Farve to retire years ago for the pain he put me through :(
