Smash Hero
Brawl will in the very least have 18 character franchises. A very bold thing to say so quickly? Not really.
Take a look at this:

Number 06? Let's change it to number 18...
Hey look! It's Pit's icon now. Off all the announced icons, Pit has the highest, number 18. All the other numbers give 'file not found' or another icon. This means that there at least 18 franchises in the game.
The ones announced so far are:
- Mario
- Zelda
- Pokémon
- Star Fox
- Kirby
- Kid Icarus
- Wario
- Metroid
- Metal Gear Solid
- Yoshi
- Smash Bros.
The ones for Wario and MGS haven't been shown yet, but we know they'll be in because they've already been confirmed.
The following obvious choices would be:
- F-Zero (Cpt. Falcon, an original from SSB)
- Fire Emblem (there’s an FE stage, or what we think is an FE stage)
- Donkey Kong (again, an original from SSB)
- Earthbound (for Ness, another original from SSB)
That brings us to a total of 15 franchises so far. This means that there are at least 18 franchises.
We can only wonder about the other franchises... What other franchises do you think will come to the scene?
