Brawl on DS? Could it happen?

Another company did a similar game to smash, that Jump Superstars/Jump Ultimate Stars for the DS. Like Smash's diverse cast of Nintendo characters, Jump has a diverse cast of fighters from Shonen Jump. The style is like a very watered down and simpler version; it's also Japan-only, but I got a copy at an anime/gaming convention.

Edit: Oh, someone already mentioned it.
Not knowing how to read the large amount of kanji, katakana and hiragana matters that much. Many of their options have English phrases on them; the only feature one can't really do is quiz mode for when you beat story mode. Just use trial-and-error to find the right options, or just use one of the really descriptive guides on GameFAQs.

They pretty much are already working on this or want to work on this...

...awhile ago someone was working on porting the original Smash Bros. 64 to the DS through homebrew, and the only time Nintendo ever stops homebrew is if they are already working on something similar. And, you guessed it, they threw some legal documents on him and the project became abandoned.
