Ok so you all recall the different modes in Melee, by this I mean coin, timed, stock, bonus Melee. Now something I have been wondering lately, is what are they going to add to brawl? Here are a few things I have thought of...

King of the Hill mode:

In this mode, a certain area on the stage will be highlighted, or have a light up boarder, all you have to do is stand in it. For every second, or certain amt of time you are in it alone, you get a point. If more then one person is in it at a time you must fight until only one person is in the area. Every once in awhile it would change locations. Most points at the end of a set time wins, or first to a certain amt of points. A fun one to hold off would be the island on Hyrule temple. Or certain platforms on some of the smaller areas. This would also be a fun team mode game too.

Keep Away:

In this mode there is one item that appears in a random place, it could be some sort of ball-like-object, or something. You pick it up like a normal item, then you run away. As long as you don't get hit you gain a point every second, or every certain amt of time. When you get hit with a significant attack, (probably an attack similar to the strength needed to break the wall around the platform in homerun contest mode)You drop the ball, and anyone can pick it up. You can also attack people while you have it, as long as you dont get hit too hard you will keep it.

I also have a couple other small ideas, like some sort of zombie mode, or a capture the flag mode, or a ninja mode, and a few other ideas. Anyway, these are some of my ideas for different variations they might add to brawl, what do you think, what do you agree with, what ideas do you have?

I still think a mode similar to Gladiator Mode from Timesplitters 2 would be amazing. The basic rules are this: a random person is designated the Gladiator at the beginning of the match, and is marked by some kind of glow. The gladiator is the only player that gets points for KOs. Anyone who KOs the gladiator becomes the gladiator. Play to a certain number of points.

Gladiators get a final smash every 30 seconds to a minute:chuckle:

i like capture the flag. it would totally work in smash. here's one:

Race Mode: Only compatible with certain stages. A highlighted path is shown, and you have to follow it back to the start. You get a point for every lap you complete. To balance the game, sometimes switches would appear in front of the characters in the back, and flipping it would send the leader back to start, or make him burst into flames, or something.

How about a tag mode... one player is selected at random in the beginning of the game as being "it." They then have to attack an opponent, which will pass the "it" to them. Whoever is "it" when time runs out is the loser, the less ranked by time spent as being "it."

Don't forget that in the game book for melee it had descriptions of gametypes not included that you could play without the games assistance;

"King of the Rock; On the kong jungle.... fight for control of the rock, player in control when time runs out wins"
-similar to king of the hill but in brawl a time for control mode could be implemented and it could use different platforms on a lot of different stages, possibly even changing hills

"Temple Race; Time Mode ... Hyrule Temple....See who can complete the most laps"

Obviously they wanted melee to be a sandbox for making your own modes, I think in brawl they might actually implement these and make them real modes

While I agree those are a rip-off of Halo modes, they would be pretty fun in smash.

Also juggernaut, where you only get points for killing a designated person, who usually has some sort of minor advantage, the person killing the juggernaut becomes the new juggernaut. Could be fun -_o;;

*feels stupid for explaining something most people already know*

There were a lot of multi modes in a PC FPS a long time ago called "Rise of the Triad".

My favorite: Deluder (A play on the word elude)

Targets fly around. Whoever breaks the most in the time wins. KOs have no effect on score, but may help you get to a Target otherwise smashed by another... The targets would fly around in the same manner that the Smash Balls fly around in.

So basically, KotH and Oddball from Halo?

Oh, and while we are at it, lets add Slayer! First person to get 10 kills wins!

Why don't we add "Pokemon Extravaganza" Mode, too, where Pokemon appear very frequently.

BTW, Smash is pretty much already "King of the Hill"-like...

of course! feel free to contribute! SSBB Oddball FTW!
Let me see:

Zombie Mode (renamed into something like Hunter):

There is one character with 999% hp (stamina) who is randomly selected. (this is a 2 on up game; 3 on up suggested), who must ko each opponent. Each opponent they KO, that opponent turns into a Hunter.Zombie like them. Whoever survives 5 minutes without becoming a zombie/hunter wins. If everyone is a zombie/hunter, only the first zombie/hunter wins.

You can preset the time, damage, and stuff however you please! :)

Territories (2 players on up; suggested for 3 on up).

Preset 2 to 8 territories (depending on the map; the minimum maximum is 4, but most have 5 or 6 on up) that must be defended. There are 2 to four diffrent teams, and 3 to 5 platfroms (1 for each team+neutral).

You can preset the time, stocks, options, or diffrent territories however you please! :)

You could change the zombie/hunter into where you have to KO them (instead of them having preset stamina), where normal characters become zombies/hunters on contact, or to where the normal players have lives or whatnot.

Even determine how long it takes to get neutral territories, enemy territories, and how long without a territory you lose!

The game can be played MANY diffrent ways!

Time Territories: Whoever has the most territories when the time is up wins! Ties go into a classic SUDDEN DEATH!

Stock Territories:

You have limited stock, and if your team loses all their lives, you can't come back. After everyone except 1 person/team is left is defeated, the winnern wins. However, every team starts with a territory, and if your team has no territory for a certain amount of time (default is 10 seconds, though you can make it to whenever you lose all your territories, turn this option off, or when all your team is KOd without a territory), you instantly lose! Also, you can turn on and off the option of when a teammate is KOd when you have no territories, they stop responding. All in all it is generally about balancing the territories you have and the lives you have.

You can also add in a time limit, if you please. ;)

You can even do stock territories with stamina, and preset lives, or do time stamina territories!

You can also set up conditions to where when one team has "X number of territories" they instantly win!

Lastly, you can even turn neutral territories off, and have it to where you can do territories

King of the Hill:

Fight for a single spot. Whoever has it longest wins, or whoever reaches a certain length of upholding it wins! Adjust the time, how you die (normal or stamina), etc.

Capture the flag:

Same as king of the hill. We all know this one. Also, could be one flag or two flag.

Sure 90% of this sounds unlikely, but so did the Pokémon Trainer and Stage Buillder update. Wet dream updates! CONFIRMED! ;) Just shows you that you never do know 100%.

Oddball would be freaking awesome in Brawl. Sure, I probably wouldn't play it very much (same treatment applies in Halo 3), but it's cool for once in a while.

Fox would pwn it. I don't care if he gets nerfed, he'd still pwn it!

Does everyone here really think Bungie was the first to think of those modes?

Why not=??? the more options, the better. A extra option won't kill the game! >_<

Edti: Counter-Striker and Halo-Life modders were basically the first! XD Also, a soccer ball scorring thing would be funny, like hitting it off one side of the stage=randumbs, and counter-strike based! XD

I think an online team battle mode would be awesome. You and a friend can make a team and play against other teams that would be randomly selected. (Yes, like Arenas in WoW lol)

King of the Hill seems very likely.

In the Melee Instructions Booklet, they detailed a few battle scenarios you could try out for extra fun. One of them was King of the Hill.

Hiding in that one place you cant see.
Everyone thinks Bungie did everything.
I agree, Counter-strike and Unreal pretty much set a lot of standards for what modes could be played for FPS's. They both were established way before Halo, and they both centered around Mods and Editor content.

But, if any of these modes make it into Brawl, or if you can actually make them yourself, then that would be more than awsome.

Probably brawling
you can play King of the Hill with a stopwatch and some friends. you can play keep away with Bob-Ombs or Mr. Saturn on very low, and designate one mr.staturn/bob-omb to be the targeted item.

Something that would make Keep Away more fun in smash, is the option to toss the ball to a teammate. Especially since catching in mid air is easer in this game.

These both were in TMNT: Mutant Melee, and I didn't like them at all.
