----Bring your own controller---

Controllers Permitted

      • GameCube Controller
      • Wii Mote & nunchuk (Batteries must be removed between sets)
      • Classic Controller ( Batteries must be removed between sets)
      • Wii Mote (Batteries must be removed between sets)
        • Failure to remove batteries will result in a warning on the first offense. Disqualification from the event with no refund on the second offense. Please remove those Batteries!

Primary Grounds for Disqualification

Do not play friendlies on setups designated for tournament matches
    • A warning will be given, however future offenders face disqualification. Setups will be designated for friendlies and announced to all players when the active tournament winds down.
    • Do not play a tournament match on a setup designated for friendlies.
Tardiness
  • Matches are to be played immediately after they have been announced. If you cannot find your opponent, inform staff so that we can help find the player.
  • After 5 minutes we will issue a warning if the game has not yet been played.
  • After 10 minutes we will issue a game loss to the player that is preventing the game from being played out.
  • After 15 minutes we will issue a set loss to the player that is preventing the game from being played out.

Preventing the Game from Being Played Out
  • This could include anything from putting it off to leaving the venue.
  • A game loss will be given regardless of whether or not the player was in the venue to hear the warning.
  • If both players are absent for the 10 minutes of the disqualification process, both players will receive a game loss, and the last game of the match will be played on a neutral, decided by stage strike.
  • If both players are absent for the 15 minutes of the disqualification process, the set win will be given to the first player to report to staff.
  • If your opponent is taking too long to start a particular match, inform a member of staff and a timer will be set in place. After five minutes from this point, a game loss will be issued towards the player that is preventing the match from being played. This is to prevent players from taking too long searching for a 3DS and prolonging the match.
  • If you are found playing friendlies (whether it be on console, other systems, different game, or 3DS) while you have a tournament match to play, you face disqualification.
  • 5 Minutes after the match has been called, if a player is found playing friendlies, we will issue a game loss to that player.
  • 10 Minutes after the match has been called, if a player is found playing friendlies, we will issue a set loss to that player.
  • If both players would be considered disqualified by this means, the first player to report to staff will be given the set win.
  • Even if you cannot find your opponent, do not decide to start playing friendlies.
  • If two players are to be disqualified for different reasons, it is up to the Tournament Organizer's discretion to decide whom to give the set win to. In most instances, being absent from the venue will be a heavier offense than others.
  • Stalling, or intentionally making the game unplayable, is banned and at the discretion of tournament staff. Stalling includes but is not limited to becoming invisible, continuing infinites past 300%, and reaching a position that your opponent can never reach you. Stalling will result in a forfeit of the match for the player that initiated the action.
General Rules
  • 3 Stocks
  • 8 Minute Time Limit
  • Sets are best of 3
  • All payout placings will be Best of 5 (Top 8 if 50+ players)
  • Items are disabled.
  • Pause is set to "Off"
    • If the game is paused by a player, that player is forced to immediately forfeit a stock. We will be checking to make sure that every setup has pausing turned off. However, in the instance that a console is reset without us realizing, all players are encouraged to double check each setup before they play their set. The opposing player may deem that stock forfeit.
    • If the game is paused by a player in doubles that no longer has any stocks remaining, the opposing team may deem that the player’s partner’s stock forfeit. The player that paused the game, in this case, cannot take a stock, and the player’s teammate must forfeit their current stock.

  • Sets are best of 3
  • All payout placings will be Best of 5 (Top 8 if 50+ players)
  • Double Elimination
  • Singles will contain elimination pools. This will be done by round robin rules. The seeds that players will receive from pools, as well as who will advance to bracket will be decided in the following order
    1. Who won more sets
    2. Record of wins minus losses out of all games in the pool
    3. Head to head
    4. In the instance of a full tie still existing, the tied players will replay their matches against each other.

      • In the Event of a small turn out Round Robin Pools will be used to determine the victors of the tournament.
  • Meta Knight’s infinite dimensional cape tactic is banned.
  • Double Meta Knight in Teams is banned
  • All other chain grabs and infinites are legal
  • There is a 35 Ledge Grab Limit for all characters. If a game goes to time and one player is over the Ledge Grab Limit, they automatically lose the game. If both players exceed their Ledge Grab Limit, then this rule is ignored.
  • The act of stalling is banned and constitutes intentionally making the game unplayable. Examples include becoming invisible, continuing infinites, chain grabs, or uninterrupted moves past 300%, and reaching a position that your opponent can never reach you.
  • Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.
  • Pause option is disabled in the game menu. If left on, accidental pausing mid match forfeits a stock.
  • You may not choose the last stage you have won on during a set, unless agreed by both players.
  • If time runs outs and ledge grabs do not determine a winner, the tie is determined by most stocks, and then if still tied, by percentage.
  • In the event that both stocks and percentage are tied, a 1 stock, 3 minute rematch will occur. This rematch will take place on the same stage, with all players playing the original characters they played, and all other rules and settings remaining the same with the following exception: For this tie-breaker match, a Ledge Grab Limit of 15 is used for all characters.
  • Coaching is not allowed during a match
  • “Gentleman’s” Clause Players may select any legal stage if they both agree on it. Players may also ignore Stage Clause if both agree. Players may not play on illegal stages or change the length of a set.

Ledge Grab Limit (LGL)

    • The LGL is 35.
    • If a game goes to time and one player goes over the LGL, they will automatically lose the game.
    • If both players exceed their Ledge Grab Limit, then this rule is ignored.
    • In the event of a 1 stock tiebreaker match occurring, a LGL of 15 is used.
    • In teams, if a single player on a team exceeds their LGL, that team loses. If one or more players on both teams exceed their LGL, then the LGL rule is ignored.
    • In the event of a game going to time and the LGL can not determine a winner and both teams have an equal amount of combined stocks, then whichever team has a lower combined percent is declared the winner.
Scrooging
  • Players may not travel under the stage from the ledge more than once.
  • “Traveling under the stage from the ledge” is defined as dropping off the ledge on one side of the stage and reaching the height of the original ledge on the other side of the stage.
  • When one of the players is attacked by the other and takes damage, the “no scrooging” rule does not apply.
  • If a player is found to be performing the act of scrooging by a tournament organizer (by his/her discretion), the player will forfeit that match.
  • The moving platform on Smashville or any platform that is not the main stage (Battlefield platforms, Castle Siege platforms, etc.) are considered to be equivalent to a ledge, i.e. if a player starts from the moving platform on one side of the stage and travels beneath the stage to the ledge/platform on the opposite side of the stage, the player may not travel beneath the stage back to the ledge/moving platform on the opposite side before until he lands back on the platform.

Doubles Rules
  • Team Attack enabled
  • Sharing stocks is allowed
  • Double Meta Knight is banned in doubles.
  • If time runs out and a player is over the ledge grab limit, that team loses if no one on the opposite team is over the limit
  • If time runs out and ledge grabs do not determine a winner, the match is decided by the team with most stocks, and if still tied, by the team with lower total percent
  • If a player is using Pokemon Trainer, Lucario or Sonic, either team may request team colors to be changed to make it easier to tell the difference
  • Missing Teammate Clause If a player’s teammate is not present for a match, that player may not replace their teammate with a CPU player. They may play without a teammate.
  • “Grab and Go” Clause In doubles, players may not switch controllers with their teammate during a game.

Stage List

  • Neutral Stages

    • Smashville
    • Yoshi's Island (Brawl)

    Counter-Pick Stages

    • Players play Rock-Paper-Scissors. Winner chooses between selecting controller port or first Stage Strike
    • Players take turns removing stages from the Neutral Stages list above based upon the results of the previous rule. The first player to strike removes one(1) stage from the list, the second player removes two(2), and the first player then chooses from the remaining two(2) stages.
    • The players play the first match of the set
    • Winning player of the preceding match bans a stage from the full list of stages, both Neutral and Counter-Pick. This ban is only chosen one and lasts for the entire set.

    • The winning player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.
    • The losing player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.
    • The losing player of the preceding match may change their controller port.
