Just took the time to watch Book of Eli...

Well, right off the bat, not religious. So obviously I don't advocate the whole "God thing". But I think, just as a story, it's kinda neat.

Hard critic? Hm. 4/10. That would translate to your (you know: you, the average person who gets too excited and rates whatever he likes as a 10) version of a...seven or so.

I liked the ending as far as the reveals. I won't spoil anything for anyone interested, but the ending had it's "GASP" moments. Although, maybe I shouldn't capitalize the GASP there. Maybe it was just a...gasp.

The close quarter combat was fun to watch. So were the shootouts. I'm not interested in the post-apocalyptic genre (I get nervous watching scenarios I wouldn't want to be in), but it was pretty entertaining.

But the only thing I liked about the movie was the revelations (pun, maybe?) at the end and a couple scenes. These few good points made this movie, which felt while viewing like the equivalent of chewing on card board, not as bad.

My biggest complaint is the VERY end. Yeah, when "the last one standing" is walking off into the sunset/world. Spoiler alert for those who don't want it ruined. Anyway, the girl walks off into the sunset, taking after the lifestyle of Eli... What? Why? That was dumb as ****. She throws a grenade at a truck, and suddenly she knows her way around a short sword? That ***** is gonna die. Then again, I guess being acquaintances with Eli suddenly gives her plot armor from God. That's my biggest complaint. Had that not happened, I would raised to a 5. Yes, I'm that stingy.

Spoilers end here. Anyway, I wouldn't say the movie was a waste of time, but after watching it, you won't really feel good about yourself or the movie. It was borderline a waste of time. Maybe if you love those type of post-apocalyptic movies, you'll enjoy it more than I did. Also, if you're any kind of a religious nut who likes Bibles, go watch it. You'll probably get off... No, you will get off (exaggeration, calm down).

I will say, at best, the movie was kind of inspiring to me with the perspective of a writer. Gave me some ideas, I guess?

Bottom line: Not worth it. Worth it if you have a friend that adds side commentary to make it funny/more enjoyable.
