MD/VA Brawl Battle League​

Welcome to MD/VA's Brawl Battle League. The Smash Battle League is a series of 12 Tournaments, held once a month to determine who is the best in the MD/VA Region. The goal of the Smash Battle League is to keep track of Tournament Victories won throughout the season.

I know what your thinking, that is what we have the power rankings for right? Yes and No. The great thing about the Smash Battle League is that 10% of the pot will be taken from each event and put away for the end of the season. At the end of the season, after tallying all the points together of the winners of each Battle League Event, the #1 player will get the bonus Winnings.

The Breakdown:
Say 30 people show up and enter Singles for all 12 events.
$300 in the pot per event.
10% of $300 is $30.
30 x 12 = $360.
$360 Payday for the Champion of the Brawl Battle League.


The Reason:
Most of you players are thinking, why would I enter a tournament where they take from the Pot? Well, the answer is simple. While there is money being taken from the pot, it is going back to the players.. the players that are hungry to earn that money. With this system, there will be no players willing to split, there will be top level play at all times, this will be the end of "Sandbagging", and you will get the best practice a Tournament has to offer.

The Point System:
1st - 8 Points
2nd - 7 Points
3rd - 6 Points
4th - 5 Points
5th - 3 Points
5th - 3 Points
7th - 1 Point
7th - 1 Point

With this point system, showing up to each event and placing top 7 will earn you points. Keep consistency and earn your points if you wish to become Smash Battle League Champion!

Venue is TBA.

This is the general Idea, and more will be added soon.

I did this about a year ago, and it went well except for the finale- because what ended up happening was that we had an amateur bracket- which were techincally the lowest seeds but ended up being inui and ninjalink etc. and had to play ridiculously hard round 1s. Just don't make that mistake!

Yes, seeding will be determined through the point system.

..and if for some reason they aren't at the final Event, the money will be held for them until they come and get it.

If it's in nowheres ville, and nobody but locals attend.. looks like Nowheresville participants will be earning points and getting money.

But I don't think that would be the case. My tournaments are always in "Nowheresville" and still manage to pull in a good amount of people. Location may not be the greatest, but the Venue isn't bad and they are always fun.

People just don't get hype for them. Tant has had the closest one to being successful but even that got weird when OoS ended up in our rankings and people got strange seedings that only the point system would allow.

Also it just looks silly how many MD/VA "leagues" we've had

Dunno, good luck, I'd prolly try and come to your events since they're fairly close to me. Wish I could say the same for everyone else.

OoS are welcome to come, but they will not impact the rankings since this is for MD/VA. If they win events, they are merely just keeping certain people from achieving points in our region.

As far as the seeding goes, Seeding will be according to the Point System. If OoS comes, then they will be seeded according to skill so there will be no early Bracket Screwovers.
