Went through a couple of encounters and battles upon leveling up on the way to Violet City and inside the Sprout Tower. Unfortunately for Geodude and Rattata, they were both sacrificed for the other Mons during the gym battle due to healing situations. In the end, their sacrifices were not in vain.

I did a little grinding before entering Union Cave. And not much else happened afterwards, just kicked the Rockets' butt and defeated the gym leader easy-peasy. However, my rival's Croconaw nearly cost me my entire team. Bellsprout wasn't fast enough to take it down by itself and I didn't want to risk losing it. So what I did was switch between each attacks to gain some advantage. By doing so, I successfully made it; but also by doing so meaning there will be losses. Spinarak and Rattata did what they could but didn't make it. So I defeated the rival, and now it's time to recruit more Pokemon and move forward.
