Alright, I understand your point when you posted the definition of "ballot", but I don't see how that's a fair comparison. These are video game characters who cannot speak for themselves, the voting occurring so that they may be selected as a character to be played as in a video game, particularly by their fans, not real people who are running to try and win a high seat of power as a country's leader. Furthermore, a political election is a much more carefully organized and complex matter, requiring for the candidates to speak up, share their mindsets, and plans if they succeed, etc. The video game characters are just that.....video game characters. With fans, who like them and their games and want to be able to play as them.
I do still understand the point you were trying to make by the definition of the word, but the comparison you made here doesn't sit well with me.
