So to answer your questions...

"Why/What were the creatures chanting?"
Well that's the simplest answer I can give. As by the looks of it it's based on an ancient hymn made by some wolfen poet who's name I don't understand. Why? Well to worship the moon goddess most likely.

Oh well that makes sense, many of the creatures in the paradise of beasts are tribalistic and much more sensitive to rhings beyond (just like your camera), after seeing what was happening they probably formed into some sort of rhythm, believing it would do them good

Well, you know that moon goddess you were telling me a while ago? Well, I'm assuming she has something to do with it.

Theres Artemis, who is believed upon us to be the moon herself and to have given us our creation

Hati who have been said to chase Artemis to become the lead herself, forever chasing the full moon when she fades

Luna who has taken the deed of watching over the deities creations from her crescent shaped world

And selene. . . who. . . really shouldn't be talked about

And besides i don't know what the camera saw but there's no such way that those mythologies will come down here, because after all their just folklore. . . right?. . .

For why, I think it's a symbolic representation of something. Could be wrong, but in some way this is a celebration of the works the moon brings, so Uni could represent the worship given to the goddess.

That makes sense. . . but . . . goddesses. . . they don't exist. . . but. . . maybe? Uh . . .just . . . what the hell happened that night?

Apart from that, I have no clue about the crater or why it looked like the moon crashed. Magic moonbeams maybe?
