If you've either read up on zombie lore or seen the Walking Dead, then you'll know that the only way to kill a zombie is by destroying its brain.

In most zombies works in fiction, the brain still functions. They still need their brain to be able to control the body.

So a blow to the head is usually what stops them for good.
