That to me would be more of a flaw as you would want to do everything in your power to ensure that you won the match especially if you were fighting someone of Superman's caliber but as a villain..

Ok so in a nutshell:
You have the modem, the part of the internet that is hooked up to the actual cable that goes between the house and ISP. The modem connects to the Router, which broadcasts a wireless signal to the house, and is typcially used for hooking up a computer via LAN. Routers are usually flatter, while modems usually look like a tower. Router problems are typically for being unable to connect, modem is usually for actual internet problems.

Considering that you referred to it as a "box" i'd assume it's a modem. Power cycling a modem is basically just turning it off for a bit, then turning it back on. (I'd google it for more details.)
